Are you aware of scoping a 1895? I know it’s a crime ... but my eyes are getting low.
Wont buy a blr so don’t suggest.
Side mounting possible?
Cannot find true answer on google!

It's the butchering of the receiver drilling holes for the mount it was never intended for.But it's his to do with as he pleases.

You must have better eyes than I do. As far as affecting the credit score goes.......that's what wives are for lol.

I will agree if your eyes are bad there's exceptions. My granddaddy had to put a scope on his 300 savage towards the end. I forgave him for scoping a pump

Why don't you put a 3x or 6x Short Malcolm reproduction scope on it ?

Ok, so its a bit like looking through a drinking straw ....
But the optics are very good
The eyepiece is easily focused
They are sealed and gas filled
The glass is all reasonably coated
The standard mounts are OK once they are adjusted and locked down
The finish is OK
They come with a set of bases for a round barrel
But you might like to look at the offset mounts due to the cartridge ejection being through the top
There is a heavy recoil sliding front mount available if needed
they are pretty cheap
You would expect them to be cheap because its just a piece of straight tube with all the elements placed inside it.

I have just put a 3x Malcolm with offset mounts on my 50 cal muzzleloader due to ageing eyes
I am very happy with it all
50 meter accuracy is around 30mm grouping
I shot a red stag and a wild boar on the first proper hunt I did with it recently and I'm intending taking it on an upcoming tahr and chamois hunt.
Clearly I am in New Zealand
