I just got done cleaning my wk180 after shooting it today. After only 80 rounds it was extremely dirty, I’ve never seen federal ammo be this dirty. Anyways... the grub screw that retains the gas cup and Piston was loose, very loose. I’m happy I didn’t lose it down range along with the rest of its guts! All but 2 hand guard screws were also loose and the other two only finger tight. Has anyone else had all of the hardware just about fall off?

I put several hundred rounds through mine with 0 issues, but it never hurts to check things before you hit the range.

I had my wk-180 out for the first time today, fun gun for sure but I did have a few malfunctions. I only put 80 rounds through it but had at least 10-15 failure to extract malfunctions. At least 5 failure to eject, and 10 or so failure to feed. The failure to feed I’m blaming on the mags. The supplies Hera mags worked great but I tried a Tapco mag it didn’t work well at first. After loading it a few times it worked better. The other mags I tried were xcr pistol mags. They worked ok for the most part the spring tension is quite high at 10 rounds. 9 was ok 8 worked best. Al the mags are new and haven’t been used till today so I’m guessing they will get better also. The ammo I was shooting was federal 62gr trophy bonded bear claw. The groups were less than stellar but that could be me more so than the rifle.

I did not have great results with almost any of my 5.56 Rifles with any twist rate (7 , 8 or 9) with 62gr bullets to 100m. 55gr grouped as well if not better, mostly better. Have not done grouping comparisons out to 300 yet as I just got a bunch of ammo to try some grouping before winter hit. Since I wait for warmer days. :) But that is just my experience with a bunch of ARs and the WK180 and some Swiss Arms. Just building a CA CF AR, don't know if that barrel likes it better, but probably shoot my 2k of it and then not getting any more of the 62gr m855.

Every bolt/ set screw on my rifle was loose when it was new. I only noticed when the handgaurd started to move. But once I did my first cleaning I realized the damage I could have caused. Also the magnet from the bolt handle is missing, it has been sitting in my safe since, waiting for the magnet to come from Kodiak.

I was sent a replacement charging handle as well, they apologized and sent one out in the mail.

This is a very useful tool to have if you're a gun owner. The length is just right for all pistol grips, although some manufacturers use slot-headed screws instead. In the case of the WK, the bit length is perfect for pairing with a ratchet for taking apart the piston system.

Are the buffer tubes these rifles come with Mil-Spec or commercial size was looking at a new stock and didn’t want to buy the wrong one

Hi guys. I fired about 80 rounds and figured it’s time to take it apart and clean the bolt. More than anything to get a better understanding of the gun. I watched the video video on YouTube from Wolverine on disassembly. I have removed the firing pin safety pin which is like a cotter pin. I have cleaned and oiled it but I had a very hard time putting the safety pin in.
I also found the gas piston plug hard to get out but I did it. The piston rod was also very hard to get out. Worked the bolt several times and it came out. When pulling it out the spring got a little stuck. All in all a learning experience but it’ll get easier the next time.

I noticed that you can’t put the magazine in if it’s loaded and decocked. It only goes in if the action is open. Anyone else's do the same thing? I did pick up a 10 round steel mag that had no problem clicking in with chamber closed and full mag.
I’m also looking for a 5 round or a 10 round mag pinned to 5 for hunting coyotes (don’t think I can use a 10 round mag hunting coyotes unless it’s a bolt action) . if anyone knows where to get one let me know. Have had a hard time finding one. I like the short mags

Cheers

If you can't seat a full mag (pinned to 5 rounds) that means the mag is pinned to exactly 5 rounds and won't allow the follower to be depressed any more than that. That's why people sometimes specify "5.5 rounds" when explaining the pinning of mags - it allows the seating of mags when filled to capacity, but won't allow a 6th round to be inserted into the mag. As for short 5 rounders, M&P 15 mags are short and are pinned to 5 rounds.

Thanks for the reply, it’s happening with the stock Hera mags that came with the wk. either way I couldn’t take it and sold them yesterday. I’ll keep uniting for the short 5 rounders
Thank you

Is anybody else noticing there upper is very loose from the lower?

I had a little play. Won't affect the functionality of the gun, but if it bugs you an O-ring around the base of the lug on the bottom of the upper will eliminate all slop. If you look at earlier posts in this thread you will find the correct size O-ring.
