Question for the S&W M&P II Sporter owners out there

I just picked up a Sporter for myself off the EE. It was advertised as unfired. It certainly looks unfired however I noticed the upper and lower anodized finish is mistaching. The upper is black and glossy but the lower is flatter and alot more greyish. Is this typical for the Sporters being sold? I don't recall seeing a colour mistmatch at the stores when I handled one. Mind you though that was a while ago.

I'll check mine tonight to make sure, but I think it is normal and they're all like that. If I remember correctly S&W subcontracts one part (the lower I think) and makes the other, and then bakes the cake.

It's likely due to whatever lubricant was used. Mine was gray and felt bone dry to the touch, almost sticky. Lubed everything with G96 and it began seeping out. The G96 made the anodizing a much nicer and smoother black. I ended up coating the entire receiver with it and let it settle in. After wiping everything down its all the same kind of black and glossy.

I bought one in November and it is the same as yours. There is a very slight difference in the finish between the upper and lower. The black looks the same, but the sheen is slightly different. To be honest I don’t notice unless I’m looking closely to see it.

I purchased mine brand new from Cabelas.
