Whats your top 5 milotary guns you want to fire ...

That was a wonderful time ... before our `civil servants` decided that the people that they served were a threat and couldnt be trusted to safely use the property they owned.

but if you are going to dream ... dream big

im old enough to have been in on the haydays of all the CA stuff. I was young, working in the patch making large, no wife no kids. for 3 years running I was on OGTs xmass card list. I think ive had one or 2 of everything at one time. then also old enough to go every year to the southern alberta full auto shoot once a year. same thing, all you had to do was ask. most of us that were right into it showed up with a truckload of ammo. last two years the CF brought out stuff. they had all the kids lined up letting them shoot the minimi. FN MAG was very popular aswell. that's me in the profile pic, at the local shooting spot with my fav bren . Mk1 inglis 1942. if you look close you will see the grass is full of empties, and no rivits in the mags

I count myself very lucky to have seen this hayday which im sure will unfortunately never come again most likely.

Wanting to shoot:

1) Thompson
2) Sten
3) Mg-42
4) BAR
5) M1 Garand

Thankfully I will be in Houston over the summer and they have a range with a full auto Sten and full auto Thompson. Hoping I can shoot both!

In both the pics pf Bren gun shooters, they have their left hand in a position contrary to SOPs.

We were taught that the left hand was to grasp the small of the buttstock, while the right hand did fire control.

Bah..........no need for that "text book" proscribed way of holding the Bren stock (I own three Brens) take a look at the C6, MG34 and 42 stocks also.

As for most want to shoot.

I would like to fire six M3 Browning 50s from the cockpit of a P51 Mustang.

So left hand on the butt and right on the pistol grip eh... same as the pictures?

Beater, that's an awesome photo!

Top 5 rifles I want to try with the proper ammo and accessories are:
Hungarian M35
Turkish M1893 in 7.65
Danish Krag
Romanian 1893 in 6.5
Swiss Vetterli with factory 41 Swiss Rimfire ammo

Lots of others I want to try but those would be the top contenders at the moment.

MG42.

Pretty much shot every other countries and most WWII models. 30 years is a long time in the army. The most interesting story was when I was attached to British Army when on Second Tour of Bosnia, the sent me to Cheshire England to qualify on the SA 80 and SAW. 2 weeks of shooting bliss and pub nights, the ladies loved my "accent". The battle 3 point sling they issued at the time was very functional and cool.

well im lucky to have it. was shooting with a friend who was a very very good photographer and he had his camera with him that day.

yes I used to cradle the butt between thumb and fingers, web of the hand. my pops taught me that actually. he had used one before I had. if you look at some of the older pics of wartime stuff you will see guys holding like that aswell worked well. you could buy 1000 rounds of cheep 303 for 100 bucks. the good stuff was around 160 bucks. it was nothing to go shoot 600-1000 rounds in a day. used to just leave it didn't even pick it up

One of my fondest menories was shooting my Bren MkII Inglis. it was semi auto and several 30 rd mags..

the bren is a deadly accurate MG no " cone of fire" there. I was very good with a peep, still am actually, but when I was younger I could shoot that thing every bit as good as any scoped hunting rifle. believe it or not I actually cut down a mag to hold 5 rounds and took it hunting a few times. never did get to shoot anything with it, but did pack it all over the 136

ICBM

go big or go home

That can likely sort of be arranged. In 1990s Russians use to have a program where for a donation you can tour ICBM facility and press button for launch of test round.Facility was in Eastern Siberia and accessible by heli (thrill ride all by itself I'm told).Check around, maybe it's still on.
