CZ Shadow 2 Optics Ready Review?

Not sure how CZ could ship this ready to mount any and all of the optics out there, you need to know which optic you're going to run so you can choose the correct mount for it.

no intention of side tracking the thread., My S2OR is experiencing some Nose UP feeding, maybe 2-3 every 100 rounds, I"m using the same load as my regular S2, 124Gr. Frontier with 3.8 N320, OAL of 1.140. , installed 10lbs of recoil spring and 11 lbs of main spring. got only about 200-300 rounds, could it be the ammo too long , mag lips to tight, extractor is tight or loose and feed ramp angle. btw, was using the new 3 mags that comes with the S2OR

The more of these I see shot on the range, the more I believe there is a inherent problem brewing. I see a decent percentage, say 10%, of spent cases bouncing off the optic body on their ejection path out of the gun. With all the weird shapes of the case and optic, there has to be a percentage of the time when a case is going to deflect back into the ejection port and jam.

Have about 3k rounds through mine and can't recall having ejected brass hit my optic once. Watched Slavex make 10-15 passes at steel challenge the other night and don't recall that happening once either.

Slavex would never limp wrist the gun. Curious if that is what adamg has seen....or if those other guys were using soft ammo?

I had, for the first time in a million+ rounds through Shadow variants, a failure to feed that night at Steel. a tap on the back of the slide and I was back in business. I know my mags are my old beat up practice mags, but I thought maybe it was cold enough that the oil got thick? Didn't have anymore issues after that. Maybe I did limp wrist that round lol?

Rob PPQ manages it with three plates that address most of the popular Optics. The M&P does as well I believe. It is something CZ could do if they wanted to drop some of their margin on the guns. Rumours have it that SIG may start including plates with their XFive series.

One of our members I shoot with weekly has the Optic ready S2 and it is a great gun for IPSC Production and US Steel for certain. She has decided to shoot IPSC Optic with her gun all the time and quit the iron sight game. With practice the Optic provides a quick access to accurate shooting with a handgun.

I mounted my Optic on my XFive and it certainly changed the ejection pattern on the gun. It went from dropping the brass off to the right in a nice pile to flinging the brass out front, back and off to the side. I am running stock springs.

Take Care

I have had mine for a while now and I can say that the brass does bounce of my optic, often but not every time. I actually shot a slo-mo video to prove this to myself. Hasn't caused any issues to date that I could tell and I am very happy with the way the gun shoots.

misterzr does some of your brass angle forward? I watched your video and I am beginning to think brass is bouncing off of my Optic as well causing the brass to fly forward occasionally. No issues yet other than it is a PITA to pick up brass. LOL. Your gun has a better ejection pattern than my XFive by a lot.

I would say that the odd one does goes forward. Even when the brass hits the optic it seems to pop it up and straight right still. You can see in the video the first couple that hit the optic also hit my phone which was straight to the right of the gun

Indeed.

I have had M&P Pro Core and now Canik TP9SFX (which costs much less than S2) and they all come with accessories including various mounts that will fit your choice of red dot. I just find it strange that a company like CZ does not include a mounting plate. I do have a tan S2 - not mounting plate nor optic ready.

It just means it is capable for a red dot sight to be mounted with an additional mounting plate. It comes with a rear sight on a removable plate.

Not sure if CZ had thought this through...not a good customer experience after doling out $$ for a new S2. You go home and open the box just to discover that a mounting plate is required and also happens to be sold out in most places.
