And for my next 9mm purchase...

I own a P226 Combat, this is an awesome pistol and lately i bought a brand new 1911 in 9mm a Dan Wesson Guardian Commander lenght, officer size.

The Combat is bigger in the hand, the Guardian is smaller and very slick. Trigger wise i advantage the DW.

Both remain unfired to this day, i will test them early summer

P226.

If you want a rail P226R

I personally would not bother spending the extra cash on the MK25 X5 legion scorpion or any other special edition sig.

Unless you want to.

I do recommend the SRT trigger.

I had decided on the MK25 but then after recently picking up a Beretta 92S surplus and really enjoying it I decided on a 92FS so the P226 MK25 will have to wait a month or two. hah

In 9mm, I feel as though you'll get a lot more out of the P226 option. That said, I think that the Enhanced Elite really is the perfect marriage of attributes, save for the chunky night sights. E2 grip, SRT trigger, and a beavertail. Sadly, I don't really fit Sigs, but if they did, the EE would likely be the perfect piece.

If a hammer is the aim, I'm also a strong advocate of the CZ P09, but it seems as though you're looking for steel or alloy.

The new Glock 48 has a model 19 grip style, not full size like the iconic G17 frame.

Glock's model is an outstanding pistol in gen5, the best they ever made. With that being said my choice would be the better CZ Shadow SP01. It creams any auto under C$1000.00 on every level. The even better Shadow2 is a 1911 killer.

Just to chime in, I'm terrible with M&P 40.
A few weeks ago a very nice gentleman @ silverdale let me shoot his shadow2. I could not believe how crisp the trigger breaks, and the factory sights? MUAH! ... It's almost made to be a bullseye gun, or whatever. Shoots so easy a 9 year old could outshoot you with an hour of practice. :)

Pretty sure the 48 has a thinner grip than the 19 considering it is a single stack.

P226 is a great pistol; well thought out. For me, it is a little big for my hand; I find the D/A trigger pull heavy but not horrible; Single action trigger has a long take-up (like most military pistols do) but once you get there it is a great trigger; reset is a bit longer than some pistols. Styling and balance is great also; and I love the de-cocking feature. Easier to field strip than a 1911.

1911 pattern is almost perfect, but mag capacity is a bit limited, and no double action. Most 1911s have amazing triggers; and for most they point very well.

Have you considered CZ; there is a reason why they are so popular.

For me, the CZ platform is a good fit. My first 9 mm was a Norinco NZ85; I threw a set of CZ rubber overmolded grips on it, and I still shoot this very accurate, very ergonomic pistol with a great trigger. I have just upgraded my .40 S & W, and ordered an all steel, full sized Jericho ( also a CZ pattern pistol); reportedly the best S/A trigger in the industry, and double action a bit long and heavy also. Time will tell.

Right now there are some SAO P226 on EE for very nice prices.

I would choose 9mm 1911. IRUNGUNS has the Dan Wesson Vigil series, in commander and CCO configuration in 9mm and with aluminum frames. They have black nitride finishes that are very tough. They are considered some of the best production 1911's you can buy. With our neutered magazines, 10/15 is wasted and bulky and 1911 is much slimmer than a sig P226.
