Armalite or Bushmaster???

By that time Karl and Mark had seperated ways and while LMT was making things - its was to Armalites spec's...

Bushy was a good choice - however they put profit before product, justifying it but the fact that most Bushy shooters will have low rounds counts and problems wont occur. Other manufacturers that follow testing protocols will notice a large percentage of flawed parts (and bin them) BM lets the user be the testing protocal.

From ArmaLite's own site...

WHAT DOES THE "AR" IN AR-15, AR-180, OR AR-10 STAND FOR?

There is a common misconception that AR stands for "ArmaLite Rifle." This is untrue. The AR-17, for instance, is a 12-gauge shotgun. Early designations like ArmaLite 10 were shortened to simply AR-10. The AR refers to ArmaLite.

The ArmaLite Division of Fairchild developed the AR-15 in 1959. Fairchild licensed the rifle to the Colt's Patent Firearm Manufacturing Corporation, and Colt's assumed the AR-15 trademark. Early Colt rifles were marked "Colt ArmaLite 15." Even today, the designation to that Colt brand rifle refers, somewhat embarrassingly, to ArmaLite.

I guess the first sentence of the 2nd para means nothing. God started the AR-15 then? Or was it Eugene Stoner and assistants while working at ArmaLite / Fairchild?

Have had many Colts, had a Armalite and a Bushmaster (just sold) never had a problem with any of them, Bushy 14.5HB was sweet;) now I'm giving LMT a try:D

I have an Armalite AR15LEM4 and I can't complain. Armalite machines it's uppers, lowers, barrel blanks, etc... so everything fits and works "A-1". Can't say they are "better than" or "worst than" since I only got one AR15. One thing is for sure, you can't go wrong with Armalite. Hope this helps.

For the AR-10 I went with a DPMS Panther.

No complaints. For the AR-10 I believe it was a very good choice.

For an AR-15 there are a lot more options.
While not a great price/performance ratio I like the Les Baer AR-15 supervarmint rifles.
I'm also interested in how the piston designs will be working out and how many manufactureres will be adopting this in the next year or so.

I will throw my vote in for a Stag.

That being said get the one you like, as you can see from the responses everyone has their favorite and you really can't go wrong with any of the quality manufacurers. Get the one you like for the price you like as long as it has been mentioned in this thread and you will be good to go.

The easier question everyone might be able to agree on is which AR's to avoid.

Get both Armalite and Bushmaster. I use both in competitions (one way range, I know, I know.... :evil ) and never had a problem at all.

Like RobaK said, most people (100 yards or so) will do just fine (5 round blocked mags) with any brand... especially since we are on a ONE way range.

I don't have any M4 cuts in both my AR's, but my #### has not fallen off YET !
