Canadian made muzzle brakes- what’s your favourite?

In the market for a new muzzle brake and I thought I would see who has used what and how you like them.

I know of 4 different Canadian made brakes geared towards precision rifles:

-Insite Arms Heathen
-Cadex MX1
-Coretac XMB
-MDT Elite brake

I already have a Heathen, and I have nothing but great things to say about it, but I would love to try something else, just can’t decide which one.

The MDT brake is definitely the best value at $120, and the Cadex is tempting too but I need a 3/4x24 thread for a Desert Tech SRS 308 barrel and the MDT and Cadex both only make .338 brakes in that thread. I know they’ll work, just not as effective.

Coretac makes the XMB Corebrake in 3/4x24 in .30 cal and it looks like a great brake, but I can’t find any reviews or anything on these brakes. Anyone here own one?

Have a look at the Cadex MX2 Muzzle brake. At $74.95 it is the most affordable option out there and available in 3/4x24 as needed (yes up to .338 as the MX1)

I just looked on their website and can’t find anything other than the MX1, is there anywhere else to look to find some info? Must be something very new?

I see you are only mentioning removeable brakes. If you are looking for a more smoothed look, check out Blue Chip Precision. Very nice gunsmith-install brakes, along with bolt knobs, fluting and other machining services/products.

Just looked them up, never heard of them before. They look really nice, but I’m definitely more partial to brakes that are easy on, easy off with no gunsmithing required. If I needed the muzzle threaded as well I might look into something like the bluechip brakes.

I’m pretty tempted by the MDT brake. Looks pretty decent for $120.
Have you tried one yet?

I just spun one on my .260 Rem coyote. Have yet to try it out.....hopefully in the next couple weeks.
I have previously run the factory PGWDTI brake and the Heathen.

The Heathen was removed last year right after the BCRA Precision match and the PGW brake re-installed.......until now . ;)

Well I’m interested to hear what you think.
I’ve only used a Sako TRG brake(meant for 338) and the Heathen brake on my TRG-22. The Heathen was more effective, but the Sako brake is a very basic design.

I’m just amazed I can’t find anyone who has used a Coretac brake. A 4 port brake with a few top ports, looks well made. I’m starting to wonder if they’ve ever sold any...
