I was surfing around today looking at different options for scopes and mounts for one of my SVT40's
Saw the black anodized aluminum Picatinny from Addley Precision Midland, Ontario.
That thing looks real good!!! If I wasn't after an authentic look I would be all over that one. Might still get it too.
Anyway I did see that Numrich Gun Parts in the States has a Reproduction Russian Tokarev M40 Sniper Scope Mount on right now with 50% off.
Not a bad deal if you're looking for one. (just the mount not the scope)
Thought I'd share.

Thats a great deal !!! An SVT40 without that Scope setup looks horrible IMHO :- ) Ive been running that repo scope and mount for a good 5 Years now and I have yet to lose zero. Well except that first flyer ;) the trick is to make that notch the exact same size as the cross pin. I wouldn't use that mount on a real sniper tho. it will damage the original notches

I don't think you can attach these mounts unless the gun has the grooves machined into it, unfortunately mine doesn't and I'm stuck using the iron sights.

Wasn't there a version available that didn't require the notch on the receiver but used a few setscrews to hold the mount onto the lower rails?

All you need to do is a small notch the size of the pin. My Chainsaw file was the perfect size . and yes you need the side notches.

I have a Izzy that has held zero for over 200 rounds without the rear retaining pin. I had to tap the mount on with a rubber mallot and thus far the tightness of the metal has held the zero.... it would be ideal to have the cut out but I didn't bother....I will also never remove the mount out of fear that it will loosen the connection.

BadAce tactical is another source for SVT40 mounts that are no drill/tap and cost around $80

Phil, which mount did you buy that is so tight?

I got mine from Westrifle. It came with scope and mount. Both are not original but I believe the scope was Russian made as it has a hammer and sickle on it and came with Russian instructions in box... I'm sorry I can't help more than that. The rifle is a 1941 Izvesk attached it below without the scope and mount
I found this rifle here on the EE on my birthday a few years ago, I was born in 1980 and low and behold the serial # is 1980

1st round tends to fly either 3 inches to 10'clock or 2 o'clock then about 1.5 inches at 100m... after about 20 rounds the rounds with string vertically about 4 inches high or low. If let to cool briefly it regroups back in the middle again.

$140 !! Ouch
Ya that's what I thought too... for a small piece of aluminum.
But looking at the Tokarev SVT40 Scope and Mount from Trade ex and other places for $ 460+ really got me on a search!!!
So far I have a Toka mount coming for Numrich for under a $130.
See what duty is, last part I got from them had no duty.
And I found a replica scope coming from New Westminster BC. for $172.
Figure that's about a $200 savings...will see when it here and mounted.

Scope arrived today. Optics are okay nothing too spectacular...Wondering if maybe there is another place to source these cheaper???

Mount from Numrich has Customs Clearance already and now is sitting in Mississauga, ON.
That could be awhile...never had much luck with the Mississauga processing planet....
