Mods for the CZ 457
Cleaned up the crown till a softened q tip wouldn’t leave a single hair
Reshaped the firing pin from 041 to .035 chamfer edge profile ever so slightly just not sharp edges
Locking lug...I used feeler gauges cut Down till action had no movement with screws loose
Lapped the barrel just to clean up some of the machining
My mods are based off Bill Calfees rimfire accuracy readings the man has done everything to do with a rimfire, and the best group was using yellow SK AMMO .060 c.c 5 shots @50m just waiting to weather to warm still minus 13 in the days.
I’m not a huge believer in cooler temps seriously effecting accuracies I own 3 other rifles in rimfire that will still do.250 @50 in cool temps my mods were solely done off my own experience I’m not a professional gun smith these are results of my own doing the rifle from new would only perform a .750 with up to 20 different ammos after 500 rounds from fast to slow the twist rate on the 457 definitely likes match ammo I have 3 types of ammo that are doing well. Centerx SK yellow and elay ems
When it’s right the rifle is amazing! just a lot of stories of the 457 some great some not at all I hope everyone’s does better then mine from the box.
Good luck GN members.
So, I finally got my MTR to the range yesterday... I only shot 40 rounds of SK Rifle Match as the wind was bad and just got worse. I didn't take any pictures but I am very pleased with the rifle! If it shoots this well out of the box, I can hardly wait to see what it will do with break in and ammo testing!
Had mine out today with Barney the tactical teacher, no problem banging steel at from 1/4 inch targets at 25 out to 3 inch at 100. Just kept dinging. Shoots all ammo well now that it is broken in, but the eley stuff is gold. Cant find any sk match locally but i will
