Bear defender 12 gauge

I might have asked this question before of you fellas but here goes anyway. First I have ordered the 870 Police Magnum . https://www.remingtondefense.com/shotguns/870-police/bead-sight/82607.html 4+1 capacity
If I want to plug it so it's legal for birds where can I purchase a plug for it ( to be able to only put two in the mag tube) ? I have heard that some of the plugs rattle when they are installed ? If I put a purchased plug into the mag tube do I keep the same spring in it ?

Any gun shop that sells Remington 870’s should have them, or just cut a wooden dowel to the right length. The one that came with my express just slips inside the factory spring, I’ve made a couple out of fibreglass arrow shafts with a big washer screwed into one end. The washer sits between the magazine endcap and the end of the spring, it doesn’t rattle around. I haven’t heard the green Rem one rattle either though, I just top it up after shooting grouse.

Wanstalls should have one or cabelas if you don’t have any dowel rod on hand.

870 express , Mossberg 500 win 1300 there are 3 guns that will fail when needed but they make good clubs . Old plain bbl 870 WINGMASTER or Ithaca 37 cut bbl to 18.5 “ . Buck shot out to 30yds devastating . Win 30-30 trapper works well 170 gr loads expensive gun plus you need to aim with the shotgun you can point if your laying on the ground or in a compromised possision

Sometimes I am really wondering ….. ????? :confused:

Can somebody tell me what is “devastating” about buckshot at 30 yards when shot from an Improved Cylinder ... and in the context of bear defense??

The OP bought an 870 Police and which normally comes with a fixed IC choke.

Now, the best buckshot patterns I am getting out of my 870Ps with IC choke, is with loads that use a flight control wad. Hornady makes one … and Federal makes a couple different ones.

Here are my patterns at 30 meters (9 inch pie plate). And without that wad ... the patterns are even worse ....

I’m already thinking of doing some custom things to the new 870 Police that came yesterday (Pictures. Coming )
Does anyone know who keeps a good stock of Magpul furniture ? I’m liking the butt stock and Mlok forestock in Flat Dark Earth. Think that would be a nice addition ! Also would like to upgrade the safety to a Wilson Combat one .

Life is short. Don't be strayed by senseless diversionary theories. Physicists released pictures of a "Black Hole" today. Theories of buckshot on bears will suck some of the time from your valuable life. You can thank me later.
