I'm thinking of buying a new Browning 1911-22. It is 85% the size of a standard 1911 and shoots .22 LR. There are several specific versions available on the Browning website and I'm leaning toward the "black label medallion". Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Expensive for a .22 pistol but well made and mine have functioned flawlessly... mind you, I don't shoot it much and only have about 500 rds through it. My wife loves it. I don't think there is another 1911 that has been sized down and if you love 1911s... those reasons alone should be enough to purchase one. On paper, it does not seem that much smaller but when you have it in your hands it is smaller than some of my prohibs. It is light also. I can't believe it has a 4.5 inch barrel.
I've owned two 1911-22 pistols. First, I had a standard black label edition. I ended up selling it and got sellers remorse because as it turned out I loved the feel of that little gun. I ended up picking up a black label gray w/ rail which I bought from IRunGuns. To this day it remains one of my most favorite guns I've owned. I can count on one hand the amount of FtE and FtF I've had, and like any semi auto .22 it seems to behave more poorly once you get it real dirty.
I can echo what others have said, and that is, they're quite small. If you get any edition other than the medallion one (which has beautiful grips I wish I could purchase separately), be ready to be surprised how light the pistol is considering the polymer frame vs the medallion metal frame. I haven't held the medallion edition but I imagine it's a bit heavier.
The major complaint of the gun I read online is the size of the sights on the base model edition. Scaling the sights down was a poor decision IMO, and you'll thank yourself for getting a model with the larger sights. It's also fairly expensive considering it's just a .22 pistol but I promise you'll get your moneys worth in both build quality and enjoyment.

Dad bought my oldest a 1911-22 when she was born, it's a fun gun to shoot but smaller for big hands.
He also bought my youngest a Bearcat when she was born, it's fun too, but the same size, very small grip.
Nothing like a NAA though.

I'd suggest putting one in your hands before buying. It might feel a bit small.
My wife bought one for me for Christmas but it fit her hand so nicely she decided to keep it.
LOL Mine to!!! Shoot really nice. I dont think it has ever jammed on any type of ammo.. Not kidding
