I just made a impulsive buy and I want to know if I screwed myself or not!

Ruger M77 markII frontier rifle in.308

It came with a bushnell 3200 elite 2x6x32mm scope, the guy has shot 1 box through it and never cleaned the barrel, the rest of the gun is in mint condition not a mark.
He also threw in 4 boxes of federal ammo
2 boxes of 180gr Nosler partitions and two boxes of 150gr ballsitic tips.

The guy bought it 2 years ago and didn't like the forward mounted scope.

Price $ 640.00


I have never owned a Ruger heard alot of mixed reviews and wonder what people think of this gun in the .308 calibre?
 
You got ripped off, badly...A brand new rifle like that sells for $350

Okay, i'm kidding, I htink it was a fair price. Doens't that rifle have a provision to mount the scope either forward or rear?
 
Great deal ..... The ammo and bullets alone would have cost pretty close to $200.

I'd send it out for a tune-up (trigger, bedding, floated) before shooting. This will help accuracy, which may be the reason it was sold in the first place.

The scope can be mounted forward on the barrel mounted rib or over the action like a "standard" M77

You made a good deal.
The rifle new today is around 800 bucks + taxes so ~$650.00 is what I would expect to see the good used rifle sell for. The scope and ammo would run you $250.00 - $300.00

Never underestimate the power of human stupidity...............

I once bought a Beretta A390 shotgun that the owner said didn't cycle. The shotgun looked like new so I bought it "as-is" for 200 bucks. I figured even if I spent a hundred bucks or so on it it would still be a good buy. (They were selling new then for about $750.00)

I got home and opened up the factory box the former owner had put the shotgun in and started gathering up the owner's manual and choke tubes. In a plastic bag I found parts of the gas metering valve the owner must of removed while cleaning it once. :rolleyes::rolleyes: Once put back together the shotgun would cycle everything from 1 1/8 oz target loads to the heaviest 3" magnums. And no ................... I didn't go back and give him some more money.
 
The guy totally thought it was forward mounted only (which is not the case).

I went over this gun with a fine toothed comb and it is Mint!!!
I'm talking brand new condition except he fired 1 box of shells and never cleaned the barrel.

Does anyone have any experience with these guns?
Are the actions strong for Hot Loads ect...
I hear mixed reviews about accuracy but I hear they are very reliable?
I think I will post another thread regarding this!

Thanks fellas I guess it was a really good deal seeing that he paid over $1200 for the rifle, scope, and bullets!
