Anyone have a guess at the value of this 12g shotgun. The serial number 11466 its in Ok shape for its age Im thinking 1920s Any info on the value would be great thanks in advance..

Looks alot like the Merkel i bought from tradex although mine is made post war in the 70's so that may be worth more being pre war.
That has less ingraving then mine but has a nice date.
Id say 500-800$

Any particular reason for thinking it's from the 1920's. Likely a well made, pre WWII German boxlock, A & D basic design. No intercepting sear. Looks like an action forging sourced from Sauer. Seems to be in good shape. Picture of the proofs?

Barrel length, chokes, chamber length (and is it original), chokes and overall weight are all important considerations for valuing.

Post pictures of the barrel flats & watertable. That will help date the gun and provide a bit more information.

Wow thanks for all the replies, the reason I think its 1920, is because of the low serial number I saw a shotgun with a serial number way higher than mine and it was dated 1930s here is a pic of the flats, thank again for all the info

Date as month/year will be on the water table ( action flat)
Looks like a very basic boxlock 12 gauge with screws b*ggered - in 12 gauge. The market is very weak for such guns.

I checked the "water table" and there is no date just the serial number 11466...

Just the sheen looks to have varnish on, but is really good wood for the age..

I agree. Looks like there are 2 hair line cracks near the scallops in the second photo and although there is evidence that the stock was refinished, there is wear evident on the finish. Also, the bluing looks to be all but gone.

The market will tell. On the EE for $600. Worth half that on a good day. But, not my gun, not my pricing.

I didn't notice those hair line cracks. If indeed they are cracks then my earlier $450.00 estimate is rather hopeful.

Yup $300 is about it on s good day . Very common not much demand . 16 & 20 ga bring a bit more $’s . Ee is is full of overpriced firearms win model 24’s $1,100.00 .

Yes, Patrick. I had no idea that East Germany began to re-use the old proof marks in 1950 until you posted that link.
