Building my own barrel.....legality?

hmmm

I would need to do some looking but there was an article a few years back where the author was talking about barrel making and long range accuracy. They had access to a large empty warehouse where they set up their range in order to eliminate wind etc... In the end they took a length of rebar and bore and rifled it installed I on a receiver and shot it just to prove that they could make a precision barrel out of anything.

Rebar eh?

all those ridges would be like fins on a radiator, great for cooling! lol

Someone else might be along to confirm, but I thought Ron Smith made a rebar barrel once.

I thought it was "weldable rebar" though, not just plain old sidewalk grade stuff.

"Yeah, when we shot at the Americans it wasn't so bad because they would shoot back and roll on through.
But when we shot at the Canadians they would get out and kill everyone." - Unknown

where is that quote from? i know you don't know who said it.
Him maybe?

mind you, doesnt come in small bores...

Couple thoughts. Call the RCMP and ask them. I’m sure they would be glad to help you.

My thoughts. If the barrel is over 18” you shouldn’t have any problems as it’s not restricted.
If you aren’t making a functional firearm and just for decoration. No problems at all as it’s not a firearm.
If your making it functional and under the barrel length then you definitely need to register it.
As far as I know you are allowed to make your own firearm. As long as your licensed and register it if need be.

LOL ! how you gonna reg a BARREL ! There is NO SUCH thing as a Barrel Registry ! RJ
