what is the best all around backup rifle

Let me see if I understand this. A primary rifle of good quality is backed up by a crappy s**tty old cheap rifle just in case the good quality rifle fails. Or is it to back it up just in case you fall into a gorge and the primary rifle breaks? In which case the s**tty old crappy rifle comes out. If a hunt is that far away from home and the primary rifle either fails or gets damaged, does it not make sense to continue the hunt with something of equal quality? Just my way of thinking/ :)

As far as lending a rifle to a guest hunter, well if he showed up without a rifle to com'a huntin' , then what the heck was he to begin with????

I have a few freinds that have used nothing but 30/30 moodel 94's for years, and they live down south - and have never had a problem filling tags.
Years ago when we lived in manotoba , my father hunted with a 30/30 and never worried about it.
