Looking to buy a lightweight rifle in the not-too-distant future, and I was wondering what options exist for a lightweight rifle in lefthand configurations? I don't currently shoot rifle lefty, but I'm thinking about making the switch because I am left eye dominant and have already made the switch for shotgunning.

I know Tikka makes the t3x Lite in left hand, are they the only real option? The other rifles I've been looking at are the Kimber Hunter and the Howa Alpine Mountain but I haven't seen either of them in left hand options...

Not many options out there. I shoot LH too, have thought about buying a Rem 700 SPS Compact 7-08 and dropping it into a McMillan Edge

I want something bigger caliber-wise. Specifically, I am after a 7mm08.

I have a left hand Savage 11 in 7-08. I'm not sure of the weight, but it seems light to me. If your taste leans toward higher end rifles, then it's out of the running. Otherwise, it may be a viable option.

Another option, as you've noted is Tikka. I have a LH Tikka T3 in 6.5 Swede that is extremely light to carry.

Thats bigger?

I don't know about all the options, but the tikka seems to be the easy button.

Found a left handed remington 788 the other year and just had it rebarreled to a creedmoor. Point is, you can spend the money for a nice lightweight out of the box, or have built from an action that may not have had a lightweight factory option, if you get a good price on the bare action of choice the cost will be a bit more but maybe not unreasonably.

The Sako Finnlight II is offered in left handed 7mm-08.
The Christensen Arms Mesa is also available in left handed 7mm-08.
These rifles are a little pricier than a Tikka T3, but are still less expensive than a custom rifle.
While maybe not as light as the rifles mentioned above, I have found the Browning X-Bolt to be ofa decent weight and balanced nicely. In regular production rifles, the left handed options are the Hunter, Medallion and Micro Hunter. In their special production rifles, the left handed All Weather is a nice rifle. (I rebarreled a7mm-08 to the 6.5 Creedmoor) You could check with Barton's Big Country in Grande Prairie, AB as they might still have one in stock.
Us lefty's do have a tougher time finding what we are looking for! (I too am left eye dominant)

I have used a Forbes 30-06 the past couple of years and I’m holding on to it like grim death. There isn’t much that will come anywhere close to that light and balance worth a hoot with a bolt on the left side.

That's almost exactly what I did... Only I found a minty CDL stock on the EE that I dropped it into. Scope was only for load development, have since replaced it with a trim 2X7X32.

I have a lefty ruger American in 7-08. I've really been enjoying it. For an entry level rifle it performs wonderfully. It's a bit lighter than my tikkas. I guess you should state your budget. If you're looking at spending a lot I would be looking at a barrett fieldcraft.
