Hello Im looking at bidding on these two peaces at auction. Just looking to get a feel for a possible price.
This is all the auction house has for info on them.

The upper pistol is percussion, and was made that way. ca 1835-1845.
The lower pistol is flintlock, would be earlier, could be 1790.
Didn't do any research about Dalton.

The visible damage to each is repairable. The hammer and #### could be repaired by welding, or replaced. Either route is going to take skill.
The damage to both was likely caused by someone dry firing them. Who knows if there is also internal damage?

All in, I would consider perhaps $150 for the caplock, $200 for the flint, tops. But I would be doing the repairs. If you had to pay someone to do the work, that would have to be taken into consideration.

Thanks!
I was thinking if they go cheap i might jump on them and try and make a buck or two to put towards something i really want.
Since i know little about antiques i figured i should ask before i break the bank on junk

Attractive little pistol! Have you researched the crest?

I got lucky with this one:

Crown over stag's head kaboshed over coronet. Crown and stag's head are the mark of the Legge family, the coronet is for an earl.
The double shotgun was made between 1800 and 1812. The dates are right for William Legge, 4th Earl of Dartmouth.
No idea how the gun got to Central Ontario.

Your shotgun is a percussion gun. Percussion guns did not exist until the early 1830's.

It is converted from flint. You can see the plugged holes in the lockplate, and the relief cut in the lockplate moulding to clear the shoulder on the flint ####.

Barber & Boaler's partnership was 1800 - 1817. The proofs are pre-1813.

As far as when percussion appeared, this gun was entered into Wilkinson's books in 1822.

Of the 15 guns on the page of the record book, two thirds are percussion. Flint were the minority.
