Okay, honest question here, not trying to be a smart a**.

Why can't / don't makers of bases and scope rings etc include their recommended torque specs with their printed material that is almost always in the packaging?

Is there a valid reason to not include that information? Am I missing something here?

I mean a lot of the accompanying printed material rambles on about mindless garbage and tells stories about how their Great Uncle Willy started the company way back in '07 or similar nonsense.

I get that gunsmiths and regular Gunnies probably have that info committed to memory but for the guy that occasionally mounts a new scope it would be great info to have I think.

Just wondering??

I see it more and more now. Near, Vortex, Spuhr and Area 419 are a few of my latest purchases that had torque specs either with or on the packaging.
One extreme to the next around here. Just last week, torque screwdrivers were stupid and a waste of time and money...
