Rail on 870 Police walnut forend??

I just got an 870 Ploice Magnum, with sweet walnut furniture. I’m just wondering if anyone has had any success putting a rail section on the walnut forend with any success??
 
I've added rails to Hogue foreends, it would be the same process for walnut.... what did you have in mind?
 
So you want to destroy a sweet looking walnut forend by putting a rail on it. You might as well get some trem clad and paint it black while you're at it. People like you shouldn't be allowed nice things:bangHead:
 
Maybe get an mlok or other synthetic Forend and just swap it out when you want to go shooting? I’m always changing up my 870 Forends, one is a beautiful light maple that is for looks only. Goes well with LE folder. Takes less than 5 mins to do and that way you can save the wood.

Where does one find a maple forend? That sounds intriguing.....
 
Yeah I wouldn’t ruin a nice walnut for end to put a rail on it. Like others have said get a different one that already has rails on it and switch when needed. Not hard to do at all. I have a Fab defence rail in the EE right now if your interested.
 
Don’t mess with the wood, buy a GG&G light mount.

Yes, yes that! I just bought a new-to-me 590A1 8rounds+1, ghost sights, side saddle and a crappy 8-10 inch long screwed-in picatinny rail attached to the fore end with 5/8" zinc-coated wood screws. I removed that abomination right away and ordered a mount looking pretty close to the one you showed. The Shotgun is not new and I traded in a rifle that I had not much love for..I can live with the small screw holes remnants, but it was quite the "kitchen gunsmith" bubba contraption.

As for the 590 and LOP, well the previous owner had bought the ATI AKITA adjustable stock. It keeps the LOP in check and also had a nice buttpad. The checkering on that stock is gripier IMHO.
