Case lube for AFTER you load the shell?

I saw a can of stuff at Epps that was meant to be sprayed on your shells after you load them. Does anyone here do this?

What are the benefits of lubing the case after loading, and what other products have you tried?

The only possible reason to lubricate a case that is to be fired would be when fireforming a wildcat case, to allow the case to slip back against the boltface to assure full forming of the new case. (even this is frowned on by some) NO lube should be on the outside of a loaded round, normally, since it definitely adds stress to the bolt and locking lugs. Are you sure this was for lubing loaded ammo? Sounds strange to me. Regards, Eagleye.

Yeah, it said that you spray it on before loading it into the rifle.. I thought it was strange as well.

Next time I'm up there, I look at it again.

My brother wrecked the headspace on a very strong rifle, a Savage 110 in 243 Win. by forgetting to remove the case lube on some handloads before shooting them. He stretched the action so much it would cause case separations after that. Loaded rounds should NOT be lubed.

The spray you mention might to be remove the left over lube. I've never heard of lubing your cases before firing, that would, as mentioned be a very dangerous practice!!!

Might be a spray type lube for lead bullets and you are reading it wrong. ie spray on bullets before loading in the case...

Otherwise there is no reason to lube cases before firing. None so I doubt anyone makes a lube for that purpose.

I clean my brass before resizing as it makes it alot easier, and after to remove all lube.

Lubing the cases is RECOMMENDED if you are shooting a Swedish Ljungman. Other than that, I wouldn't do it.

i have owned several ljunermann's and never heard of this before...i never lube my cases after loading them and do not see why i would have to...the lube can cause to many problems if left on...

It was actually a Swedish Military work around for thier piece of #### gun. Extraction is rather violent and case heads would be ripped off frequently. Solution was lubed cartridges.....
