Polish Tokarev double feeding and or failure to feed cause??

Hey guys,

After cleaning up my TT33 from Poland I brought it out to the range and unfortunately did not have a productive range session. The gun keeps double feeding or failing to feed live rounds after every 1-3 shots. The magazine release is quite stiff and some mags stick. However, all ammunition as well as all the mags used produced the same failures. My Russian TT33 had no issues with either the mags or choice of ammo, so the issue is specific to my Polish tt. What could be the cause of such failures if the ammo and mags are not to fault: recoil spring, stiff magazine release? Thank you for the feedback truly appreciated!

Its the hammer group housing/ feeder lips combination that either misaligned or not cut properly. Is hammer group assembly matching to the gun? Usually if something that is feeding or ejecting related issues occur on toks, you need to look at the hammer assembly. You may need to polish feeding lips on the assembly or even replace it as some just have improper dimension. Try to swap the hammer assy with russian and see if problem goes away

If she fails to eject empty brass then you half way diagnosing your problem. Tell us what we see on that picture? Is that empty on top or fresh round failure to chamber?

Fresh round, no issues ejecting empties just feeding new rounds. I am not sure its the feeding lips they look identical in position and condition to me Russian tt.

Have you tried different mag? That looks like mag lips may be deformed or very weak mag spring.

Yes and all mags work in Russian tt. I believe it could be a weakened recoil spring do you think that is possible? Also to note is the stiff magazine release which sometimes can stick and wont release mags.

My polish TT also has a stiff mag release. There has to be a way to lose it up a little, but this pistol is new to me. Got it from SFRC a few weeks ago.
Sorry to hear about your issues. My TT didnt malfunction the only time I shot it. But I found out that the barrel is showing a little bit of slight pitting in the barrel...
I found it to be very inconsistent, which I blame on the ammo. I forgot to look at the empty cases to see if the shell casings is showing signs of rupture, etc....I shot some 1945 russian SMG rounds surplus stuff...One mag gets me very decent group (for a first outing), the next mag, I miss the target.....maybe its the barrel, but the ammo is notoriously inconsistent....

My thought is that a TT is a nice surplus pistol to play with, to own, to read about, etc...because its cheap, I keep my expectations somewhat low. Of course I can't compare my Polish TT to my new-to-me 2016 CZ 75B Omega....

Fill us in on your findings, a surplus piece with quirks is still a nice thing to play with...wish you the best with the outcome.....

BTW, do you know what the pin that sticks out on top of the slide (right behind the ejection port) is for? Loaded chamber indicator? I didn't quite notice the diff once I cocked the action...

Not sure but I think you are talking about the extractor retaining pin, shouldn't really be sticking out as such, pretty much flush with the top of the slide.
