Forster Co-ax sure are popular

So... worth the money or complete waste?

Let’s just say it was the last item to upgrade in my reload stations,
If I’d do it again, yes,
If I’d still buy it last after making sure the rest is upgraded, yes.

As the low runout claims do no apply in my situation (my setup was already low),
I do enjoy the shellholder though,
Yesterday i got i to a rythm of throwing a new casing in while taking the old one out,
This design compared to classic shellholders is a definite speed improvement.

I’ve only ever used a Bonanza and Forster Co-Ax’s for reloading. The good news if you buy one and you don’t like it you won’t have any issues getting rid of it. :)

They are often out of stock everywhere.
I bet if i didn’t like it, it would sell under 24h at close to purchased price on the EE.

I know right,
But where can i go from here?

Don’t say 1050 with autodrive as i will block my ears from this major investment i am not willing to do...yet!

You’d have tons of people lining up chomping at the bit! :)

No need to go to that much expense to increase your loading rate.. You thread from back in Feb. asking about increasing the speed of your 650 got me thinking about that on a cold day, just sitting in my big chair watching a hockey game.

As you know there are some "auto-drive" conversions out there but they are expensive and I am leery of anything that is "under power" that might have a jam-up and wreck things. SSSSOOOO I spent some time with pen-to-paper and then a lot more time with a lathe and milling machine in the shop and have come up with a conversion for the 650 that ,even tho it is still manually run, it should easily increase production by 50% or more. I am still in the "refinement stage" before starting the "Patent" paperwork but I do have a working model on my press that works fine. It takes about the same time to install as a cartridge conversion with the same tools you already use.

I am trying to get the finished pieces to cost about the same as a landed cartridge conversion kit from Dillon ( I think their around $110 Can. with the exchange rate as it is now) but there is extensive machining required. The unknown here is the volume of interest guys will have for a kit. A large volume should allow for more automation (CNC mills) to be afforded rather than stumbling along with manual machines.

So if anybody is interested in being put on a "list" for when I have a saleable version on the go just PM me and the wife will start the list.

The Accumax looks very similar to Prezipress.

I think I will save my pennies and get the ATRS.....and support Canadian business.

I bought one years ago, when they were reasonably priced. About $200. I thought that was high, until I saw current prices. Recently I bought the upgraded linkages, and the baseplate from a couple of guys advertising on Facebook. They are quite an improvement over the originals.

I purchased the baseplate (jaw holder) and am impressed. Is th linkage worth the $115.00 CDN

I have a co-ax, for many years. Great press. A couple of years ago I was asked to recommend a press. I checked run out and all that stuffed, compared to Lee turret. In finished ammo I could not see any difference between them. So it's very nice but not really needed

I love my co-ax but it isn’t a stand alone press.
There are some functions/tooling it just can’t do due to the design.
So far I have yet to find anything the Rock Chucker can’t do.
That said, I think the Co-ax is nicer to use for most functions.
Also, as it doesn’t use shell holders you can still load if you have dies.
I recently started reloading 45 Auto-Rim and neglected to order a shell holder for any of the priming devices I have. Co-ax was able to prime these cases without any new tooling (albeit slowly) allowing me to continue reloading.
Worth purchasing, worth the wait, I wouldn’t sell mine but I wouldn’t build excessive expectations.

Where some people will build expectations is around runout, which I have found to be false in my own case.
With my previous Lee classic cast, 0.5 thou runout, with Forster Co-ax, 0.5 thou runout.
So technically it's not a more accurate press, juste much more pleasant to use.

Handle design make resizing a breeze, spent primer design is clean and seamless, shell holder design is quick to work with.
In my opinion, if you're expecting better ammo because it's a premium press you will be disappointed...

Absolutely, I agree.

Very well put...
