Just wondering who all hunts in provincial or national parks in Canada lagally and not with native status.I am lucky enough to have a camp in Algonguin provincial park in Ontario in WMU#54.The guy that gave me the camp had it since the early 1960's and isn't able to deal with weather and walking anymore. He gave me the camp in 2000 and that year I got a buck that scored in the low 170's and every year since then we've taken big buck's every year and have won a spot in the big buck contest in Whitney most years as well.
So who hunts in parks ?????

Under current Wood Buffalo National Park Harvesting Regulations, Parks Canada Agency issues hunting permits to aboriginal people (Status Indian or Metis) that can trace ancestory to the area prior to the esablishment of the Park. The regulations also permit issuance of licenses to spouses and adopted children of aboriginal pernmit holders. I believe there are residency restrictions as well. If you move beyond a certain distance from the Park you must turn in your permit. I also believe that General Hunting Licence holders in the Northwest Territories (which includes many non-aboriginal people) are able to harvest in most Territorial parks, with some seasonal and safety restictions.

some provincial parks in Ontario have controlled waterfowl hunts. Presquile and Darlington P.P. do. I have yet to go, but may try it someday.

I have a permit that must be renewed annually to hunt caribou only in Wapusk National Park. It is available to anyone who can prove long term residency, I'm not sure what the exact criteria is, but I got mine.

in bc hunting is allowed in most provincial parks. as well i believe that hunting is allowed in gulf islands national reserve (or whatever it is called since it is not a full-on national park).

About four or five years back I hunted the east portion of Grundy Lake Provincial Park in Ontario which permitted deer hunting.

Me thinks we're not far apart;). I hunt in 54 as well, off the Hay lake rd. , between the 17mile marker and the 21mile. I've been there for 5-6 years, the other guys have been there for up to 45 years

It can be alot of hassel with all kinds of strange laws but i supose there is some realy good hunting to be had, i have only done this twice back home in SASK in cypress hills and SASK landing prov park

Me thinks so too :dancingbanana:.I have the first hunt camp south of the hydro line and 1 mile day hunting limit at the 9 mile marker,we set up a green house with blue tarp over it.If your driving buy stop in for a brewskie .C-12 is our camp #,we only hunt the 2nd week.I've been a member since 1988 and camp has been mine since 2000.

My camp is on the Kingscote rd ( I think that's what they call it ).We go in west from Whitney past McRea's logging mill and turn south at hemlock hill and I'm the first hunt camp. It's on the east side of Cauliflour lake.Where's yours senior ?.

I have been to your camp:) We stopped to borrow a tow strap after a wind storm 3 years ago, and one of the guys got stuck. I now carry ropes, chains, saws, to whole bit.;)

You say your camp is of Hay Lk road??
Would it be on Hay or Drizzle Lk??

Camp is a bungalow in Whitney, hot showers and cold beers every night.:D:D

We drive in to hunt. In before daylight, out after dark.:) We always called the main road "Hay lake rd.", but maybe its not. We hunt in the area where the road splits to Clyde-Bruton. About 8 square miles.

Our camp is over towards Combermere.
But I'm very familiar with most of the areas talked about.
Between hunting , fishing, ATVing & snowmobiling "I've been everywhere man"
If your on the east side you should almost be out of the park??
Wait a minute if your on the upper end of Kingscot rd shouldn't that be on the west side of Cauliflower?

Yup.East side of lake and our area borders WMU #55A on our east side as well.We are between the lake and 55A and hunt from 1 mile south of hydro lines down to a portage trail that runs from cauliflour lake to hay lake.We have a very big area with lots of BIG BUCK'S :dancingbanana:,can't ask for any more than that !.
