A 284 Winchester

Beauty!! I have a distant relative as well. Slabbed M700LH with a 24” Shilen #1, Wyatt extended box, Brown pound’r, Gentry 3 position safety with a Leupy 2-8x36 in Talley’s. 6lb10oz. Nosler 140 ABs at 2940fps. Love it.

Go ahead, tell me you put a side mounted bolt release on it too.... Sounds perfect

Thanks again guys.
When I compare this 284 Win to my 7RSAUM, there isn't much difference in performance. Like none. With 140's
Except the 7 fits inside a M7 SA better (2.85") than this 284 Win would.

Nice rifle, the 284 win is my favourite cartridge. I have shot more deer with a 284 win than any other cartridge. My first rifle was chambered in 284. To say I'm fond of the cartridge is an understatement. I've had good luck with H4831sc and H4350 in my rifle. 24" barrel is the best length for a 284 win IMO. Basically it is a ballistic twin of the 280 rem. I always stuck with 140 gr bullets.

I loaded a Savage 99C for a buddy short to fit the magazine of course at 2.80 OAL/49gr H414/140gr bullet velocity unknown but clover leafed at 100 yards.

Tried the 120TTSX and H4350. 57 and 58 grs. Had a flier on the 57 gr load but the 58gr load put them all in a ragged hole at 100yrds. 3280 fps! It’s nice when things come together.:dancingbanana:

Buckmastr, what is the max C.O.L for your action if you don't mind me asking. :) I've heard that a M70 action allows for a slightly longer length than a remington. Both in short action of coarse. I've always wanted to have a 284 win built but have never gotten around to it.

3.05" or so with the spacer removed from the back of the mag box.
