I really dislike the Accutrigger's safety tab, I like to shoot with gloves, and the safety tab causes me grief often enough that the accutrigger will be replaced. BUT, I have other things to address at the moment so it's going to be a bit before I can afford that expense. What I do have is a Steven's 200 Trigger, I read somewhere that I can use that in place of the Accutrigger. There are also Trigger Shoes that are available for Ruger PR's that supposedly fit on a Savage. Anyone have any experience with the shoe, or cleaning up/ lightening the stock trigger?

You can very easily get rid of the accu trigger blade. But its there for a reason.

This is what I figure is the ultimate cure until I can spring for a Timney. or Rifle Basix, I'm pretty sure the reason it's there is Lawyers, but now that it's part of the design it may really need to be there for proper function. I'm also concerned that if I show up for a match of some sort and they take a close look, they may disqualify me. I'm less concerned about the safety aspect as I don't foresee having one in the chamber without it being pointed at the target. I do find it a somewhat irritating to waste a shot by the rifle going off unexpectedly though, and why I don't set my triggers too light anymore...

Rather than ask how to do it, can anyone give me a compelling reason not to, like it won't function properly without it.

The accutrigger was a sales gimmic that caught people and it worked out for savage. Its just a crappy old style two stage trigger like in a lee enfield

I have one, like it, but it would seem to replace it would require a re work of the entire rifle, not practical.
