Your Favorite cartridge?

I really like my custom 300WSM rifle, and I liek the 300WSM cartridge.

Of course, my current favorite is the MIGHTY 375 Ruger.

Other favorites include 223, 45 ACP, 45 Colt, 7-08, 7mmRM

7x57 in a Win.? Thats sacrilege. Right cartridge wrong rifle. 7x57 is a Mauser round. It should be in a Mauser rifle like an Orbendorf factory sporter in 7x57. Or a Brono 21H.

30-06.
Good for most game in North America. Still capable of excellent accuracy with handloads. Not as fussy with powders as some other calibers. And then there's the history (notwithstanding Richard Venola's recent article).

.270 is my favorite caliber and the WSM version is my current obsession.
Benelli R-1 Comfortech is the latest incarnation of the .270WSM that I am working with. Nothing but good to say about this rig, using a VXIII 4.5-14X40 it is a comfortable, light, fast and deadly all-around hunting rifle... for most anything walking or running!

.303 Brit. When you touch one off you feel the connection to the glory days of empire, to the darkest days of the Second World War, directly through infinite numbers of game harvested around the globe. I also find it doesn't recoil too much and hits hard at the other end.

For sheer utility, however, the .22lr

My favorite -- 300 H&H Mag. -- pre-64 Model 70, 1953 with a low-comb stock-- hottest load is 74 gr. of 4350 pushing 150 gr b/t @ muz. vel. of 3400 fps. -- 68 gr. of 4350 pushing 180 gr b/t @ muz. vel. of 3086 fps.

This is one rifle I can depend on to shoot consistently, time after time. It's a pure pleasure to use. The long tapered case feeds through the rifle like hot knife through butter. The recoil is a firm straight back push with no muzzle lift.
I can shoot this rifle all day long, it fits like a glove and shoots like a dream whether I"m hunkered over a shooting bench or shooting off-hand at game.

It was a tough decision between these two, but second choice is -- 375 H&H Mag. -- pre-64 Model 70 with a low-comb stock. The same reasons as the first choice, but the 375 H&H has a bigger attitude.
