AR-15 ejecting brass at 5:00

I wouldn't call ejection to 5 o'clock a problem if it's reliable. You might find as the gun gets dirty or in the cold you begin to experience failures. Is there a reason you put a heavy buffer in? I use coolguy buffers in 7.5" builds. As many know, the pistol gas system can be sensitive to a lot of factors. In a mid-length gun? I would move to a standard buffer. You're on the outside edge of reliability with the ejection pattern and mid-lengths already shoot softly.

As Jager stated; this could become an issue when the rifle gets dirty or colder...
 
It runs. Who cares where it ejects? This isn’t the army, and the targets don’t fire back, so getting that perfect arbitrary ejection pattern is meaningless.

Thats whay he has on it now. H1 is a heavy buffer.

Could be a clue in the future if the gun stops being reliable. Doesn't hurt to solve it while you can. Most xm193 is fairly warm so ejection should be in the 2 or 3 o clock. Gas block alignment might be a problem. Is this an adjustable gas block? But to a degree i dont disagree if it works shoot it.
 
I'll check the gas block (it is not adjustable) and try a standard buffer since I have a spare on hand. Not really too worried since it is running just fine, was just curious seeing as how most info I could find was telling me it should eject between 3:00-4:30. Thanks for the input.

True, but the guy next to you wont be getting pinged with hot brass plus you don't have to go hunting for brass. I use one on my AR's and it helps. It was just a good suggestion ;)
 
Are you hand loading or factory ammo?? My hand loads with far less gunpowder will eject at 5:00 where as factory ammo ejected at around the 2:00 range... just my 2cents
 
Using that 5.56 ammunition and throwing them at 5 o clock is weak. When the carbine gets dirty, and / or you use weaker 223 ammunition, it may start to have malfunctions. Try a standard buffer, lube the hell out of it and report back.
It could just have a smaller gas port (depends on manufacturer) or leaking gas around the block or tube. If its new, it will start to self seal the more you shoot it.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. The rifle is used for 3-gun so I don't want to attach anything unneccessary such as brass catchers. I'll take the handguard off this weekend so I can check the gas block and will get back to the range with a standard buffer and see how that goes.
