Why use anything but Brownells BCG?

This question is mostly fueled by my ignorance...
But now after having built and shot:
2 x AR15s
2 x SLRs
1 x MVS

All using Brownells BCGs with no issues... if I’m only interested in standard units what advantage is there to buying some of the standard mass $350-$500 dollar units?
 
Bragging rights. Thats about it, i have been there. From using 79 USD brownells BCG to 500cdn JP bcg, they are all the same for normal usage civilian shooter.

Funny enough, the JP bcg gave me some headache right off the bat, ie: short stroking, really tough to pull back on the charging handle etc. Probably due to super tight tolerances.
 
MPI tested bolt is 'worth' the extra bucks compared to a generic for me. Peace of mind for whatever it's worth.

The rest is just coatings (meh) and extra doodads and 'features' like 'low mass' and 'NiB' - but for me a standard BCG is perfect.
 
From my understanding, brownells BCG's are made by tool craft. While tool craft is a "decent" product, it simply will not survive the same amount of use/ abuse as a quality mil spec carrier made by military grade companies like Colt, Diemaco, DD, KAC etc.

Keep in mind, plenty of people have ZERO problems running NEA or Norinco BCG's so the same argument could be said for them.

Ah, where is the testing that proves that a Toolcraft BCG won't last as long as the other companies you listed? Also, how do you know they don't make any of those OEM BCG's as they do supply to other companies?

Toolcraft makes their BCG's to Mil-Specs just like the ones you listed, they are made of the same materials(possibly better as many don't list specifics), and are subjected to the same testing & finishing(MPI, HPT, Shot Peening, Staked Gas Key, etc.). They have a lifetime warranty too unlike some other companies BCG's. It should also be noted that comparisons have shown that their fit and finish is superior to other companies offerings at a much higher price.

If you need your BCG to say KAC or DD on it to make you feel warm inside that is fine(I sometimes do this lol) but, to suggest that a TC BCG is inferior to other offerings is just silly imo(especially without actual data to base your opinion on).

First order of business none of the quality mil spec bcg cost that much. The cc can be had for 299 and its the top end of what I would pay. You can have a bcm or dd for around the 250 mark.

The extra money goes to the qc process that ensures the product holds up under hard use/adverse conditions.

While nobody has proven that the aforementioned bcgs perform better than the tc bcg nobody has proven the tc bcg performs on par with the nicer bcgs either.

Watch a vid larry vickers does on bcms qc. It will give you an insight to why their products cost as much as it does.
 
I’ve been told by an highend AR manufacturer, that they just use the toolcraft ( same as brownells) and have their company logo stamped on it.
So, sometimes, what you think you’re getting, is not what you’re really getting.

having said that, if I were a soldier at war, I’d want a colt, plus a spare one in my back pocket:)

Which manufacturer as I have heard Toolcraft makes OEM BCG's for more then one of the mainstream AR manufacturers? This information is helpful to prospective buyers.
 
while brownells isn't the bottom of the barrel BCGs they are far far FAR from the top aswell. just as many good Canadians stores selling good AR stuff right here. no need to go to brownells in my opinion

Where do you find CC BCG for $299?

LOL. Toolcraft have made tons of replacement bolt carriers for the US Mil.
