What really disappointed me I guess is that on Thursday I contacted the seller twice, mentioning that I could pick it up later that same day, even offering an extra $100 over the asking price. Nope, was holding it for the first buyer but would let me know if it fell through. So the next day I get notification that its available and am I interested. I respond yes, and ask for a number. By the time I get home it's already sold. The first prospective buyer gets a day to show, reasonable enough I guess, but then I don't even get a couple hours.
Boggles my mind.
Am I reading this right? You initially replied and after being told someone else was buying, you offered more money to the seller so he'd back out of the deal with the first guy? Then you started a thread on ettiquette?

I just don’t buy the , I’m to busy to send an EMT.
As I said, you can do it in 3 minutes.

I never implied that I was too busy to send an EMT, the ad never mentioned it. Maybe I should've asked if an EMT was preferred but I figured that a face-to-face just meant cash in hand.

Am I reading this right?

I suppose some might read into it that way. I just felt that the asking price was overly reasonable for the item and that he might be stalling, like a realtor listing for below market value, to test the waters and see what comes. So I offered what I felt was more appropriate, to illustrate I wasn't a tire kicker, and because I had the afternoon off and could readily meet up if that was the case.

I've been buying/selling on various sites for a long time, though I'm a newbie here, and have seen this many a time. The more I think about it the more it makes sense that this may've been it.
