Looking at doing something up for bigger gophers. Say a 505 gibbs,550 mag or 600 overkill. Pretty much what I would need is someone to supply and do the barreling, chambering etc. The stock work and such I will do myself. Anyone in kanuckistan doing the big bores?

There was an older fellow in Whitehorse some years back but that was quite a while ago. Bevan seemed to be the go to guy for bigger and odder things but I have no idea if anyone stepped in to fill his shoes.

RMR Rifles at Corlanes in Dawson Creek built my left handed 376 Steyr and 416 Taylor, both with Bevan King barrels. Both shoot 1/2" groups or better when I do my part.
I'm sure Greg can do bigger bores just as well.

Ralf Martini in Creston, also does bigger bores (he built my first 416 Taylor, bought used from a client of his who wanted something bigger for guiding big bears).
Excellent work, but getting more expensive. But he is a Master Gunsmith.

Jim “Rockchucker” is his name. He did my 404 Jeffery. I don’t believe he is with us any longer.....

Jim Strelioff had cancer, and fought it like a hero, but passed away going on two years ago.

He was a very active shooter at our club, especially Long Range BR, as well as a rifle builder. Some of his builds are still in Whitehorse.

Yes he does.

I have one of his rifles. It would be about 25 years old. Its a rem 700 rebarreled to 340wby and has rks on the barrel. It will put 3 into 5/8ths of a inch at 100 yds. Its one that I don't think I could ever sell. I always wondered what the rks stood for.

Probably the easiest and cheapest path is a CZ Magnum, .500 Jeffery. Or if a .458 Lott is enough a Ruger RSM.

Probably the most reasonable route. CZ did the 550 in a factory 505 Gibbs as well IIRC.

Ralf Martini if you want world class, have big bucks and don't mind waiting.

always remind me the story of Jim and you hunting bears on the river and why he will not sleep in a tent anymore ... those were the days ..

There is a guy that posts a CZ 550 in 505 Gibbs on here every so often. Dale a Shooterschoice.ca has a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby. Beautiful piece of wood on it. You could rebarrel it to something bigger. Was considering rebarelling my 416 to a 505 Gibbs, 475 A&M Magnum, or 577 Tyrannosaur. It shoots really good so I may just leave it.
Corlanes built me a 404 Jeffery on a Win M70 Classic Stainless 375H&H action.
