What’s everyone opinion on the Razor 1-6? I’ve been wanting one for a little while now and am debating if I should sell a few surplus optics in order to fund it. I would be tossing a Leupold MK AR 1-4 with fire dot, an Eotech xps2 (new logo) and an Aimpoint H1 in LRP mount. Not sure if I would regret the decision or not.

Opinions?

First what’s it going on?

Second what are you using it for?

Third what budget are you looking at?

After those 3 are answered advice can be given as those are all different optics with different uses and price tags.

I think it'll dominate those that you mentioned. But it's been out a long time, market has changed, the competition has probably matched it by now I would imagine.

The only real downside of the Razor is its weight. Apparently they released a newer version about a year ago with a slightly different name that is lighter. And I also heard they have a totally new one coming out right away that is a lot lighter.

I'm not confident there is anything better at a better price. But maybe equal at an equal price.

Some competition to look into:
-Swaro 1-6 and 1-8
-Primary Arms high-end
-High end units from Athlon, Burris, Bushnell, Trijicon, USOptics....

I will add that I am not convinced a FFP is a good idea on these. The reticle becomes extremely small at 1x, basically forcing the use of illumination, and I try to avoid illumination in most lighting conditions.

It’s likely to be tossed on one of my Mk18 which currently has another Micro on top. Saying that, I tend to swap optics pretty often so it be could see some use on some NR offerings like my Tavor. So honestly Too early to say if it’s gonna be dedicated to a single firearm. Lol

I’ve also got a Bushnell elite tactical 1-6.5 which is planned for my stag 10 when I eventually get one.

I guess in the end, I’m wondering if people like the razor 1-6 and if you guys think it’s worth selling 3 optics I mentioned in order to fund it.

The glass is very clear with a wide eye piece which enhances the view. All others are still gauged and compared to by the Razor G2.

Thought about it but meh, I want the razor. Lol

I bought one used a few months ago and put it on my Daniel defense M4V7. I really like it so far. Illumination is great at 1x because it's essentially a red dot sight. The razor is true 1x and extremely wide field of view. Glass is really good.

The 1-6 Razor is not FFP.

It's true that it is a little heavy, but it doesn't make my AR feel top heavy, and my AR is a lightweight version. Vortex did come out with a new version of the 1-6 Razor that is a few ounces lighter. Mine is the older model.

Can you tell me where you heard this from? Thinking of getting one of the razor's myself and may hold off for a bit until the new one is released. Thanks

Nothing was released or mentioned at show show and Virtex normally doesn’t release anything part way through the year that wasn’t mentioned or demo’d At shot show. I would be shocked if this happened before next Jan
