That looks awesome. Wish I had the time and resources for projects like that. That being said, I use the salt bath annealing kit from ballistic creations. I have not used a torch machine like your build. What are the advantages of the automated torch annealers over the salt bath kit?
I would think that the benefits are the self loading factor, exact timing and not having to rinse/clean cases afterwards.
Temperature control and temp repeatability on salt bath is probably better than a flame if using a pid controller and solid state relay and no hopper to fill.
Still trying to decide which way to go myself.
I have materials at home as well so I'm really looking at making the best possible.
I'll be looking at annealing 556, 7.62x39, 308, 338 Lapua and bmg.
I'm thinking about making sleeves to go over the wheels for each case length and making the torch head adjustable.
Edited to ask: 2amp power supply (wall wart) would be enough?
I also presume use of Pencil Flame Torch Head and not a regular torch head, right?
Biggest advantage......you guys ready....it will end up costing about $30
One of tgese dsys when my son is ready to reload ill give him this one and build an induction annealer
How much of an incline did you go with?
15-20°? 25°
Did you heat insulate the motor from the wheels?nope
Very cool set up. Looking forward to the finished machine. You are good at this stuff, ever think of making and selling a few? The price on commercial annealing machines should leave room for you to make some $ ands still sell at a good price, maybe?
Well thanks...i dont really have the machinery to do this on a business scale. Hobby lathe and a few hail Mary's usually gets stuff done. Also ive tried turning a hobby into a business and it sucked the joy right out of it.
Regards
