S&W Model 52 info

My buddy and I have a pair series 1 and 2 we paid $500 for mine and $600 for his that was in 1975 and they were used as new. If you get it for under a grand grab it and run . They are remarkable one of a kind pretty much hand made the first year production was only 90 units I think total production was around 35000 or so guns. The barrel wrench and extra mags if he has them

SHOOT IT! Neglected 52s have ejector/extractor issues, because of negligent owners. Blast brake cleaner, repeat, compressor air pistol. Sometimes a dental probe is needed to hook the junk(especially if you're using Bullseye/Unique) then light Remoil. BTW 2.8 Bullseye is to die for w/ 148 gn.! I got $1525 for my 52-1, and $550 for my spares.
Which model? -1 or -2? Earlier-1 or long extractor can break if you drop the slide on a chambered round, so always load via the magazine. Good luck finding one if it ####s the bed. Murray Charlton just retired so good luck getting a S&W guru to work on it. However if not abused they will last forever. Some folk in the US have ten’s of thousands of round through them. I had three and I’m down to one minty mint -2. Mags are really hard to find. I was going to get a Clark S&W 52 Match Grade, Oversized Gunsmith fit, SS, 1 in 10 twist, 6 groove barrel over the factory 1:18.75 twist and have Murray install it, but his retirement and the low Canadian peso changed my mind. Clean decent ones go for around a grand with a couple of mags, mint in the box with barrel wrench and match weight obviously more

Never ever broke a S&W part!
To qualify that, I've never had modern Smiths. Most recent was first edition Classic Hunter aka 629.

Most of my Smiths are older too. I shot a 29 loose, have a model 41 that needed new sear and a 5 screw all needed work, Murray to the rescue. I imagine a competent gunsmith probably could do the job but someone with Murray’s experience, good luck. Take a broken 52 to a gunsmith and see if he can fix it or have the tools or experience or parts supply, again good luck. The point is the 52 is a wonderful pistol to own and a pain if it needs servicing.

ClarkCustomguns in the US sells a new match grade barrel and bushing. By the time it's landed you're into about $600 before fitting. As for a smith, let me know if you find one.
Its a 52-1 it is in absolutely pristine condition there not a bit of bluing loss on magazine,
