2007 Canadian National IPSC Championships

I found the stages to be interesting and varied without being intimating to newer shooters. I thought the stages were well designed to display the strength and weakness of individual competitors, IMHO. What surprised me was the number of DQ's. There was one guy on my squad that DQ'd on the first day, first stage, first mag change. Finger in trigger on mag change I think. He was not a happy camper.

There was even an option where you could shoot over a wall while handcuffed to a table. (if you were tall enough!:puke:). Were you one ckc123?

you know it,

Not only that, but I had to get the RM over to make a ruling on the pressure pad start.. if you did it right, you could get your string hand out, without setting off the timer.. the stage briefing only mentioned "shooting" after the timer started, it did not mention "drawing".. so I was going to roll my string hand out, draw, aim on target, pull the hand off the pad, and then shoot..

Needless to say the RM said "Nope"..

but yes.. I did shoot over the back of the table ;) ;) ;)

That hand cuff stage was pretty interesting. It was more interesting for those of us needing to reload. I think I fired 11 rounds at that array. Two rounds into hard cover.

It's going to be a memorable match for me. First in the division... Probably one of the cleanest major matches I've ever shot. 1 miss against me in 20 stages. Sure there were non penalty misses on those evil speed stages, and of course on the fixed time courses. But I can't complain :)

If I remember correctly, the stage briefing said the start was on the audible. So pulling your gun out of the holster before the audible sound would be a match DQ for unsafe gun handling, yes??? If I'm wrong please correct me. I'd really like to know some other points of view.

the stage briefing did not define the start of the stage. only
Start postion:
"• Standing facing down range, hands on the table."
"• Weak hand will be secured to the table with a Velcro cuff."

Procedure:
"On start signal, shoot all targets in any order from within Area A."

It only says you can Shoot after the beep. (hence the Call the the RM)

8.2.3 A course of fire must never require or allow a competitor to touch or hold a handgun, loading device or ammunition after the "Standby" command and before the "Start Signal"(except for unavoidable touching 'with the lower arms).
and

10.5 Match Disqualification – Unsafe Gun Handling

10.5.1 Handling a firearm at any time except when in a designated safety area or when under the supervision of, and in response to a direct command issued by, a Range Officer. The expression "handling a firearm" includes holstering or unholstering a firearm, whether or not the firearm is visible (e.g. while concealed by a protective cover, etc.) together with adding or removing a firearm to/from the competitor's person whether or not the firearm is wholly or partially holstered.

That is impressive that you had one mike.

I had twenty-six total mikes.

Two on Stage 2 drop-turner that didnt count and thirteen on Stage 9 that were not penalized.

Checkers or Wreckers.

A level III match can be counted as a classifier, but you have put in the request to have it counted prior to the match. I believe you also have to submit classifier fees to IPSC as well for each competitor.
