A 318 Westley Richards would be nice in an Oberndorf..........

Back to reality the light rifle pick is a Brno 21H in 275 Rigby. 154gr bullets like it very much and so do I.

Bumping it up a notch for the bigger beasts with a 9,3x62 keeps things fun.
An Oberndorf would be nice for this one too but for the interm the ZG47 will have to do. Haven't settled on a bullet yet.

Make it a Mauser of fine pedigree with iron sights and Suhler claw mounts in a reasonable caliber though and you may have a hard time getting it out of my hands.

This Interweb thing is very evil, new chamberings tease me all the time it is hard to stick with one for long. Tomorrow my choices will be different again.

8x60 Bombe perhaps........7x64 and then I want to try out the ones my forefather's used just because. I am messed up.

For a lot of years my favourite was 3006.

At this time, with where I live and what I am hunting it's .338wm. I don't find the recoil significant and with the combo I'm shooting it is very accurate.

I love my BAR in a .270 for deer. I bought a 700 Classic in a Whelen this spring, and the way it shoots at the range, I can't wait to get out for moose or elk this fall. I just hope I have enough time to do it all.

But, I do have to say that thinking of that Parker-Hale .303 in my Dad's hands still makes me smile. The shots I've seen him do with that gun are amazing.

I shoot a Winchester 88 in .308. I like it because:

1. My grandfather gave it to me.

2. It shoots straight.

3. I have shot half dozen big game animals with it including moose, all were one shot kills with 180 grain factory ammo.

4. Ammo is cheap.

5. Low recoil.

There are so many to choose from, however if I could only own one I will go to .30-06 and stick with Remington 700.
This caliber has at all, good velocities, lots of energy and is easy to load and shoot.
Bullets of my choice will be anything between 165gr - 180gr depends on game, however this fall i will test 220gr Partition on deer.

Honorable mentioning are
6.5x55
.308
8x57

7x57 in a Win.? Thats sacrilege. Right cartridge wrong rifle. 7x57 is a Mauser round. It should be in a Mauser rifle like an Orbendorf factory sporter in 7x57. Or a Brono 21H.
True but not many of those around anymore.

Ya think the 220 NPs will be enough for deer? ;)
.

I just want to try something new.
Slow them down to 2400fps and see what happens.
I know lots of hunters in Europe shoots Roe deer with 9.3x62,
heavy and slow, there is not to much of a damage.
Slow is good :)
