Lol.. I do have some self-control. Really, I do. I also have a CZ I'm quite fond of, the Tikka has to perform well if it's going to compare to that rifle.

Could you explain to me what you mean by increased inertia from a 20 inch barrel over the 16 inch barrel. I’m assuming you are talking about the .22LR
I’ve never heard about that aspect and am curious.
In a nutshell, the heavier something is (greater mass), the more resistant it is to being moved, both intentionally and otherwise. So if one tends to move the rifle as the shot is fired, greater mass reduces the severity of the movement.
There's one less 20" .22LR T1x on the market this afternoon. I finally found one at a local dealer for a reasonable price.
The trigger is really nice right out of the box, I'm going to shoot it before I do any tuning. The stock feels short, so the action will go straight into the walnut Hunter stock I have.
The bolt is reasonably smooth, it should only get better over time.

Makes sense. I have the 16 inch variety and it shoots very good.
When I was researching the gun one fellow somewhere didn’t care for the look of the 10 round mag. Said it was Tikka’s nut sack. Made me laugh but the visual is there every time I look at it.
Congratulations on taking the plunge, Chilly. You'll be able to tell me how the rifle shoots before I have a chance to try out the one I've had for a few months already. I think you'll prefer the Hunter stock to the factory synthetic.
Thanks, I just finished inletting the stock, it didn't take much once I figured out why the mag wouldn't go all the way in. The edge of the mag well sleeve that forms part of the bottom metal was hanging up, I originally inletted for the mag well, not the bottom metal.
The first thing that struck me as I was taking it apart was how good the metal finish was.
Then adjusting an already crisp, creepless trigger.
The Tru-Oil to seal the stock is drying now, I should have some finished pics of it later tomorrow. First impressions are good, though the stock is definitely the least impressive part of the rifle. Not a problem since I don't think I'll be using the original anyway.
The acid test will come when I shoot it. Pretty only goes so far, after all.
Champagne results on a CCI beer budget would be nice!

I can't see Tikka not offering a Hunter version of this rifle at some point.
The wood stock improves weight distribution and changes the overall feel of the rifle for the better IMO.
It'll probably add a couple hundred bucks to the price tag, unfortunately.

It's unlikely for now. Cabelas is asking $679, the cheapest I've seen in Canada has been $649, not many online stores will ship a rifle- sized package for free.
Cabelas offers free shipping over $99, but you're paying for that up front, the shipping cost is built into their pricing. They add a $7 surcharge for oversize (rifle size) packages.
I doubt you'll see a T1x discounted on sale anytime soon.

I swapped the Warne high rings for a medium set I had on another scope, the scope just clears the barrel enough to get the coat on now. I'm hoping that'll get the scope low enough that I won't have to use a comb riser. It was borderline before, this should help.
I also swapped trigger springs for the lighter one that was in my .243. It's a shade lighter than it was before, to go lighter I'll need to find or make a shorter set screw.
A couple of weeks ago I impulsively got looking on line for a 20" barrel one. Found one 'out west', but thought that I should check out a small local gun shop's website (not a site sponsor) first. Surprisingly, it showed that he had one in stock. Called the next morning with credit card, and picked it up a couple of days later. Yes the list price was more, $699., plus tax, but it was a wash when the shipping, or lack of, was factored in. Plus it was a 5km drive for pick up, and he gave me a great price on a Winchester M94 Sporter a year or so ago. I've bought from out of province site sponsors regularly, but I will also pay more to support local businesses if they have, or can get, what I want at a reasonably competitive price. Now if only I could decide on optics for it...
