I had a rifle rebarreled and want to put a new scope on it. I want something with a zero stop as I’ll be using a ballistic turret. This will be used for hunting with shots out to 500 yards.
I currently have a Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44 with the BT, and I like it, but want to explore other options in the same class. Suggestions?

I have been going through this same predicament for a while now. I wasn’t able to find something to replace my Z5 either. The Z5 is a pretty neat little scope that tracks good and is super lightweight. Also I really like the optical quality.

Several makes of scopes offer ballistic turrets but it’s hard to say how reliable it would be. I have also heard the Leupold CDS can have issues with tracking although I haven’t owned one. I’m not sure how many people play with their ballistic turrets enough to know how well they work.

I tried a Sig Whiskey 5. It checked all the boxes and the elevation turret was very good. It allows for a couple 25 MOA rotations and has a zero stop. It tracked good in all my tests. The scope I got unfortunately had pretty crappy optical quality. The image was fish eyed and I sent it back to Sig for warranty. Hopefully I get the replacement back soon and it looks better. It’s been replaced with a ATACR.

I would look at the Nightforce Atacr 4-16x50 excellent scope if your going to use it for hunting

You can get them from Hirsch Precision
