The 2019-2020 Ontario hunting regulations have been released

Its a shame its so hard to find a hard copy. I like to keep a copy in my truck because thats when mr co is going be waiting for me

Personally i think they went the wrong direction with the new tag system. So many ppl will just photocopy the tag

I know what you mean, every spring i hunt for a hardcopy in english for my dad. He has a copy from each year going back to the 90s i think. He hates that ottawa is so billingual because it means the stores have to order X number of french copies as well. Meaning there are less english ones and that makes them more difficult to find lol

As for the second part: that would be illegal.

Photo copying the tag is a matter of convenience and judges will not convict people for photo copies unless there is evidence to suggest they are using the photo copies to harvest additional animals that they know they are not allowed to take, ie Poaching.

Personally I am glad they stopped printing them. Its cost and paper that doesn't need to be wasted. They have the internet on phones now you can store the regs electronically, and if you really like the printed copy you can print it yourself at your own expense, instead of at the tax payers.

You should also note that the 'regulations' are just a summary, and not the law. If your plan is to get into a debate with a CO, then you should actually be printing out the Legislation and Regs.

Words of wisdom. You make some excellent points.

So here's a quote from the Ontario regulations:

Tags are printed on regular paper and can
be obtained:
• online through the licensing service and
printed using a personal computer, or
• in person by visiting a licence issuer or
participating ServiceOntario centre.
Hunters will be able to print most tags
immediately at the time of purchase, with
exception of moose, deer or elk tags that
are purchased before the draw deadlines,
which will be available for print starting on
the following dates:
• Moose .................................August 20
• Deer ...................................August 20
• Additional Deer Tag ...............August 20
• Elk......................................August 20

We are still printing tags, on regular paper, at home from your own computer using your printer. Show me a print driver that doesn't allow you to print an arbitrary number of copies. No need to photocopy. Heck, you can print it to a PDF file and print it as many times as you want.

The old system of seals/tags printed and mailed was much better than what this is going to be. I don't like this new method as it only benefits poachers. The infrastructure is already in place to print proper game seals, why not still use it?
