Nikon warranty replacement, a little pissed, NOT NOW!!

so the old Nikon that was on my blr crapped out, an older 1.5-4.5x20 made in japan, would not hold zero, so I sent it in for warranty thinking there no way they will warranty it because it was bought in the late 80's early 90's, so I get a p tactical scope for a 223 as a replacement, big ugly adjustment knobs, hate the reticle, BUT it's better than what I had I guess, anybody had this experience before? I call want to call them up and give them hell lol, this scope is not going on my 308 blr

It might have been the only scope they had with that magnification. Definitely sucks.

I sent in a Monarch 7 range finder and it came back as a Monarch 3000. No complaints here but I can see how your replacement scope doesn't fit your application. I don't think Nikon fixes many things under warranty, they seem to replace instead. The P223 seems to be the only 1.5-4.5 scope Nikon currently makes. Looks like they used to have it in the Monarch line but that's been discontinued.

Well that's all that was available in that magnification, so they should tool up a brand new line, just for you?!

Sell the brand new scope and buy something you'd like instead. Finding a brand that actually stands behind their products these days is hard enough as is.

Send a 30 year old vehicle back to the manufacturer and see what you get, heck, try it with a fridge , or a stereo , or a faucet.

That scope was new when cassettes where a thing.

Just send it back and go buy what you want and quit expecting something for nothing.

Call them up and see if you can return it and add some kitty to the litter if they have
something more suitable.
Or do as the others have posted.
Stick it in the EE WTS or WTT?
Someone might have some taste buds for it.

Maybe ask them to take the innards out of the new one and put them in to the old body you prefered? Lol

I agree with the others, sucks they cant fix a 30year old scope, or find another another new old stock but at least they gave you something. Maybe go through their products and ask if you can trade this new one for another less tactical one that is the same value?

The Monarch 3 1-4x20 is a great scope. I have an older Nikon African 1-4x20 and I love it. True 1 power on the low end and great glass, nice and bright.

i had the same issue with Nikon they exchanged our old binocs monarch 3 to new monarch 5 ... i was so p@ssed off lol ....

Keep an eye out for a Monarch 3 1-4x20. I have two with the #4 post style reticle. The leupold hog plex is another low variable.

Not sure what you would get for the replacement, but more than what you would get for a 30 year old broken item. Seems like a good choice for a AR or PC carbine.

Nikon recollimated a very old (1970’s?) 8x,30 binocular (an old predecessor to the ‘E’ series) for me .... initially they said they weren't sure they could do it because of the age and inability to find anyone who had experience on this optic.... after I whined a little because of my fondness for this binocular ... the adjustment was made ... NO CHARGE!

We are talking about a company standing behind a product they produced almost a half century ago .... (and still a VERY fine glass) making a precision adjustment and returning it to me ... Free!

I have the highest regard for their products and their service policy.
