WK180C versus VZ58 in 5.56. What is the better rifle?

Have both.
Pretty tough toss up.

I am not fearful of rough handling of the CSA.
The WK is nicer for left hand operation and mounting an optic.

I think it's obvious the vz is proven reliability wise but my wk ran flawlessly. The great thing about the wk is cheap mags, and ability to mount optics whereas the vz 223 mags aren't cheap and its difficult to mount magnified optics. I'll probably sell my vz58 in favor of the wk181 simply due to that fact. But for me my x39 rifle has to be a hunting rifle, camp rifle, fun plinker and medium range precision rifle until I'm done school. My old wk showed a lot of promise for accuracy so I'm hoping the 181 will too.

Wk180

Flattop upper so much easier to mount optics with. Some degree of commonality with ar15s such as mags and long handguard gives more options for accessorizing. Reliability seems to be hit or miss atm.

Vz58. Propietary magazines. Poor optic mounting solutions. Limited handguard space. But it is proven in its reliability.

Your call on what you value more. They are close to each other in price.

For me vz and wk tie. Because vz sights and wk scopes, same mags interchangeable pistol mags, mag coupler. interchangeable accessories like magpul. Same bullet. But my vz in fde was way more expensive and wayyyy more cool since it is now all fde well almost all fde. My wk will look tactical as f*** soon as I finish my long little project. Can’t wait to have fun now that summer is now just around the corner. Exciting 2019 here I come, ready as ever.

I have 2 vz58 in 223 love both of them very much plus a conversion to use 10rd lar mags the one upside I see the wk having is from some CGN talk is if you get the 223 wk you could buy a separate upper in 7.62x39 without buying a whole other rifle.

as in he has 20 magazines of the AR style, not 20+ rounds in a magazine. Or is the dumbest CGN poster posting about owning prohibited devices on an open forum that is probably monitored by the RCMP.

Funny, I like the csa 5.56 mags.
If anything the AR mags might be cheap, but they are the weakest link in the AR platform.
While I get it for commonality, getting the conversion kit for the mag for the CSA costs as much as a dozen or more mags itself.

762, vz58 all day every day, dirty ol corrosive too. Cleans in a minute. Easiest takedown of any red rifle.
Not shooting corrosive at all, never, I'd take a mini30 or anything with better irons or better scope mounting options.

223? 180c, the benefits the vz has in 762 doesn't matter in a cartridge that has no corrosive components.

My opinion of the 180c is subject to change, I already had and sold a vz58. Although the miss the simplicity of the rifle... it's a very cool rifle... it doesn't offer anything special enough to warrant me buying another.

"the 180c is going to eat itself"
Maybe, but I recall all the rage in the early days of the vz were to send it to places like neitarms(there's a throw back) for tabbing on the carrier to prevent the gremlin from appearing.
Nothing like a random dead trigger in the middle of an event.

Most of the breakage issues regarding CSAs appear to be on the .223 versions. Just saying, im sure a great majority of the .223 CSAs out there are running excellent, BUT there is also a concerning amount of problems with them popping up the red rifles section time to time.

Had a vz in 223 wasn’t very accurate (tried some decent ammo), also had the pin that holds the gas block come out. Whole thing blew off while at the range (it was an easy fix),didn’t like any of the options for mounting an optic. Sold it and have a 583 mini 14 now.

For the shear parts availability, and compatibility with ARs & ease of modification with no real knowledge of 'smithing required, the WK wins out.
From what I've seen the WK is, out of the box, more accurate than VZs I've seen, and there is always the ability to spin on an even better quality barrel.
You can float the barrel, add optics easily, run irons or optics or both. Accessories are easily added and/or subtracted.
With RWA's additions, you can have it in multiple calibers; .223, .300 blackout, 7.62x39, and likely more on the way.
The 180 design is every bit as reliable as the VZ platform.

The original VZ-58 in 7.62x39 is a cool Cold War era milsurp, but anything other than that is wanting in my opinion.
