Hello All,

2 weeks ago I applied for my ATT. Haven't received it yet.

I ordered a Restricted handgun last week from out of province and is being Mailed to my Residence.

I have heard this can be done because I will not be transporting the pistol until I receive my ATT.

I received a message today from the CFO and he is not allowing the transfer because I do not have my ATT.

Has anyone encountered this before ?

I have tried calling the office however have not been able to speak to anyone who knows anything yet......

never heard of it.

I know if you goto the CFC website it is saying that CFO's numbers are not available for certain days of the week due to a massive backlog of paperwork, PAL applications and transfers.

It seems more people are getting their license and starting to buy more firearms.

Never heard of an transfer being rejected because of no ATT issued. I didn't know you COULD get an ATT for a restricted firearm you DON'T YET HAVE!

There have been reports that in BC, an applicant must hold a long term ATT before a transfer will be approved.
Keep trying to contact the CFO until you can talk to someone about this. Check on the status of your ATT application, as well as the transfer.

Absolutly 100% correct. After talking to Bob T about a simular case, we were informed that there were too many temp ATTs being issued for the number of perm ATTs, so now the latest policy is that you HAVE to have a long term ATT before any transfers will be issued. (his words, not mine)

It seems that recently the BC CFO feels that you must have an ATT to own a Handgun..whether you transport it or not...seems like a make work project to me..

Hmmm, maybe it's the CFO's way of insuring that people who buy handguns actually belong to a range. Currently as I understand it when you apply for a long term ATT they are now asking for proof of membership.....
