Long Branch No.4 Lightweight Rifle

Is there any CGN's that have a No.4 Long Branch lightweight rifle,...there is a picture of one on pg 346 of Ian Skenneraton's ...."The British Service Lee"....has many desirable improvements over the No.4 rifle.....weight been one factor...over 3lbs reduced....one piece stock,..shorter barrel.,..rubber butt pad .

Very low production numbers though...perhaps 40 or 50

I asked the same question a while back on Jousters, one guy did claim to have one and said he was in Canada somewhere. I'd love to see one too.

I heard a rumor that one was sold at a auction recently.It was advertized as a "Sporterized" long branch.Somebody may have got a really good deal!
Can anybody confirm this?

how did the stock attach?
i mean compared to the normal through bolt enfield attachment?

I have never taken the rifle apart. I am probably too scared too. If you look at Jay Currah's site you will see a bolt that goes through the stock near the bolt and that is the key feature that keeps the reciever in place.

I have a Skil Saw, Sawzall, and impact tools including air chisels plus a number of BFH's...we'll get'r apart...
gotta see what makes it tick eh???

Since the rear sight has no battle aperture, does the sight body carry the Maltese cross non standard marking like a No 4 Mk I T did? Is it marked S for Savage like in this pic of a LB No 4 Mk I T sniper?

Any chance of a pic of this area? Most of us will be lucky to see pics of one of these rifles, which is very cool in and of itself.

Pics of Long Branch Lightweight rear sight

The owner of the Long Branch lightweight rifle sent me these two pics of the rear sight. No sign of a Long Branch non standard marking...looks like a normal LB Mk I rear sight with a sniper slider...
