Nikon Monarch 10 x 42 Binos

I've had a pair for 2 seasons now, bought them from binocularscanada.com
They have been great, I would like it if the eye pieces didn't fog up on really cold days but they do clear quick. I've only had one time when I wished I had the 8 power instead and that was at absolute last light.
They are easy to carry and easy to use and I don't find the 10 power hard to use at all. The fellow at the store told me he sells 8 to 10 pairs of the 10x to every pair of 8x.

I have the 8.5x56...they are very, very clear.
Cornell University's Department of Ornithology considers the 8x42s to be the best binocular for the money, and don't really recommend buying anything above those unless you want to spend well over a thousand bucks.

To clarify just in case!! The fog is on the outside of the lens, cold glass, hot face?? I'm told shaving cream will fix this and cause no concern with the coatings!
Well that certainly changes one's outlook
....there are plenty of commercially prepared "cleaners" etc. for this as well.never heard about shaving cream though........
If you want to see if shaving cream works, after your shower rub some onto the fogged bathroom mirror.
I use a Gordini anti-fog cloth made for ski googles, works well. Check out your local ski store.
The Nikon 8x42 Monarchs are a great bargain.

It is the hot face (and eyes) that do the fogging, As I always use glasses I don't have that problem, the glasses keep that part of the face away from the lens.
You may consider using gradients glasses any way (sunglasses) as they protect the eyes from twigs, branches etc.
I have the Nikon Monarch ATB 8x 42 and they are great!

Been using the Nikon ATB Monarchs in 8X42 for a few years now and they are superb. There is just a hint of edge distortion but the 90% of the lense is crystal clear, sharp and gives you a sense of depth.
Compared to Pentax which had better colour trueness but was 50% heavier.
Nikon has dominated binos for several years now. Their facility in the Phillipines and China allows them to offer awesome glass and chassis for little money.
The Bushnell Legend and the much more expensive Elites are also worth a look. You eyes might prefer slightly different coatings, final lense specs.
If you don't mind a larger porro bino, the new Nikon EX Extreme Action line is unbelieveable. Dirt cheap and I do mean DIRT CHEAP. The quality of lense and coating are right up there with glass from big Euro brands (yes, side by side comparision at a 1000m shoot by other shooters who take glass very seriously).
I use their 12X50 for LR glassing and can resolve the wild grass and branches at 1km.

I purchased a pair in 10x52 about a year ago. Have been used extensively in a relatively harsh environment (Nunavut).
I have had no problems what so ever with the Binos. Very bright, sharp and clear optics to my eyes. Robust build quality. The big objective lens is great in low light conditions. For me, the 52mm is worth the extra weight relative to smaller objectives.
If these needed to be replaced, I would not hesitate to buy another pair of Monarchs. Excellent bang for the buck in my experience. But try before you buy. With optics, what is good for one person may not be good for the next.
