Anyone know of a best source for replacement cross bolts for picatinny spaced rail?
To elaborate, weaver rail uses a .180 spacing between the knubs on their rail, whereas picatinny rails use a .206.
Rings often come with a crossbolt for .180 as it will fit in both, but the picatinny rail will have some slop to it, not much but if things are loosened it can create negative results banging around under recoil and be difficult to identify.
I have a set of rings i want to use and modify slightly, they come with the smaller cross bolt, id like to swap it for a cross bolt with the shank milled square for .206, probably a 1/4-28.
Despite the enormity of aftermarket, there is very limited options for hardware, one is TPS who pretty much stopped producing a .190 width crossbolt.
I'm looking at ordering 1/4-28 or 6mm fine thread hardware and removing material to make them fit tightly within a picatinny, yes I know I could just buy different rings, but its more of a build project than a buy project, and there is you guys here as a resource. Anyone been down this road or know where to source parts?
