Official 2019 Wild Turkey Thread

Im out again today. Rained all night. Still raining. Still better than working. All quiet today. Yesterday my buddy got a decent tom and i got to witness thru my binos the best fight ive ever seen. Way better than any drunk chick bar fight. Landowners neighbour has peacocks and genie fowl. Loud and annoying creatures they are. 15 deer and i had a standoff in the field before they decide to run into the treeline where i want to sit. They wake every roosted bird. Sounded like 7 or 8 gobblers. An hour goes by and i see 3 toms displaying in the corn stubble on private property. They had 8 hens with them and low enough on the rise they couldnt see my dekes. They left and i grew tired so i went to check out the ponds to see any woodducks so i walk the outter edge of the woodlot and see a giant all white tom displaying than a flash of blue about 10' long and then blue and white rolling then flying and the peacock is victorious and in full proud display as white feathers float thru the air. At that moment a gobble sounds off and a big wild tom charges in across the field. Head like a coke can he charges in they circle and dance and the peacock lands an airstrike. They went at it for about 5 minutes. I never knew a peacock could jump so high. Twice the length of the tail feathers into the air. He dominated that tom. Chased him back over the rise he came from. Nearly 400 yards away i could hear the wings and legs meet. I tried to take pics with my cell phone thru my binos but they didnt come out clear
Ill never mess with a peacock. The field was covered in turkey feathers

Am i they only guy out today?
Rain was supposted to hold off till 10 but started just after sunrise.
Setting a blind so not too bad. Lets see how it goes.

I'm out in a blind in a small clearing. Very heavy rain, I think most of the birds will be pushed to larger pastures but I'm trying my luck anyway

Today is a day that I regret leaving the blind at home... I hate hunting out of those pop-up monstrosities, but it is better than sleeping in the truck... where I am the rain is torrential... I think it is Timmies time, XL coffee and a Farmer's Wrap... will head out when it let's up a bit.

Both tags are filled.

I will call my city hunters to tell them the place is ready for them.

Lots of birds this year.

On the way to Timmies, I did a scouting run by a couple properties that I hunt. The past three years, I have seen a pure white hen on several occasions... yesterday I saw a group of six birds one of which was white. They were so far away that even trough my 10X binos, I could not tell if they were hens or Tom's, but I assumed that they were hens... but nope, just saw them again and they are 2 and 3 year old toms, and the white one has a 10" beard on him... that would be a cool trophy... I have permission on a property across the road, but they seem comfortable in that corner... will have to be lucky for them to head my way.

Coooool. Pics would be cool if you get any closer.

I was lucky enough to harvest an all-white turkey my first time out hunting, years ago. I was so excited, my heart was thumping out of my chest! My mood changed quickly however when the farmer from the next field started yelling obscenities and curses my way. I think he was also yelling about some "unlocked pen" or something. Regardless, I didn't want to confront the guy, so I quickly and quietly left my spot...

If that was meant for me, thanks Fratri. Yup... the video was quite popular, heck...even some people from a local insurance company contact me to see it.

It actually was for member Runningfool his video.... but yours sounds interesting as heck, please post a link.

Hahaha....if it finds its way to your dekes to breed wild hens, its game on!
