Coooool. Pics would be cool if you get any closer.

A property i hunt has a neighbouring property thathas whiteturkeys and peacocks and genie fowl that arent penned. Ive had his white toms come in in full display but i let them live as theyre free range. Itd likely be legal but i dont want to piss of the owner. 5 miles away theres a white hen im always watching closely hoping it grows a beard but no luck yet. It comes right to a call though

Seen a bunch of Jake's chasing around hens tonight at 6:45pm. Two Tom's on other end of the field working their way in.

It's raining sideways and 60km/hr winds. Dont bother them much.

Tomorrow morning says -10 and 60k winds again. Think I'll give it a go, pretty sure these birds are going to roost down by the river in the big pines not too far away

Excellent photos gentleman.

Anyone having any luck today? Weather has been sh!tty..

What a brutal friggin' day! Rain and 75 km wind gusts... worked a few birds though and had the coolest turkey hunting moment of my career though... will write it up when I have more time.

Well that sounds extremely promising! Fair warning though...after reading about all-white birds, peacocks, guinea fowl, jello-like eggs, farmers yelling obscenities, and confiscated videos I am expecting big things from this write up! ;)

Interesting choice and I can see that would be a good combo for turkey. Congrats Jay.

Thanks dilly! It's not a drilling ;) and more of a statement that 'black guns matter' to prove the antis wrong in vilifying any gun rather than the perpetrator...

Now to find a turkey tube for this sucker, lol!

Cheers
Jay

Snow squalls this morning and wind gusts of 55km! Already have an accumulation of snow and had to clean off the dekes shortly after i set them. This ought to be an interesting morning. Good luck to those who have gone out today!

Next year, i will take my 2 birds at my Ontario farm and i will also take 2 birds at my NH farm, i am not set up for this spring.

Well today was eventful! Weather was brutal, snow accumulated on my decoys twice. Fortunately the hen I had a roosted above my blind wasnt spooked. Likely couldnt hear a thing because of the howling wind. Anyhow she flew off the roost and was headed away. I gave her a couple yelps and she ran right in. She spent the next 40 mins yelling and screaming which drew in a nearby tom. By 6:30, I had two hens bring in a nice Tom. He was very hesitant to come in at first, but couldn't resist. The hens did all the work for me. I didnt even need to bring my calls. I just sat there and enjoyed the action. At 7:12, the bird hit the floor at 11 yards.

The tale of the tape are as follows
10.5” beard
1” spurs
23.6 lbs

I’m turkey hunting with my AResque Uzkon TR-100 this year for the same “statement” reasons. Trying to normalize the style as much as possible.

As for a choke, I was in the same boat looking for a turkey choke. The Uzkon came with an in-house full choke, but no markings on it, and no easy way to figure out which thread cut would work. (None of the online conversion guides listed Uzkon equivalents) I ended up having to reach out the folks in Turkey to get an answer (literally had to call Turkey about a Turkey choke lol).

The Uzkon uses the Beretta/Benelli Mobil style of choke. Given the similarities between a lot of the Turkish shotguns, I wouldn’t be surprised if Derya uses the same type. Maybe a place to start, anyway.

Good job, Alvaro... nice bird.

We bailed... I've been living out of the truck, got up at 4:30, stepped outside, the 70 km blew me back against the truck, whipped off my hat (never saw it again), snow was blowing hard... I said "screw this mess"... my son and I went for breakfast instead... I'll come back down in a couple weeks when the weather and birds are are more cooperative and I can do the classic "call & decoy" hunting I like... with this wind neither the birds or we can hear anything...
