Stag 10 issue with Geissele National Match DMR Trigger

Hi guys,

I have a Stag 10 build that I had put together, but I wanted to adjust the trigger.

installing the trigger when I have the lower on its own, I am able to get the trigger to a 3.5lb setup.

However when I assemble the rifle, the trigger feels completely different and is registering around 8lbs on the trigger scale.

I am not sure if something is snagging the trigger causing this.

I am using the stag BCG a Geissele charging handle and I had to cut a portion of the safety in order to ensure the safety would work with the larger shoe of the trigger.

If any of you know what it is please let me know.

Hi, just replying to your email when I saw this. I’ll answer here if that’s ok. I’d recommend putting the question on setup straight to GA. They do answer the phone and are great with technical support questions. We haven’t encountered a similar question, so our response here would be that we can also call Geissele to inquire about your setup and situation. I can say as a user of the same setup (Stag 10 and HSNM) that it can and does work very well.

I remember someone else having problems using the national match in a bcl or ar 10. I think they ended up getting a response of it being better suited to ar 15s

That was the SSP trigger.

How much matarial have you removed?
When I did mine , I just kept removing a small amount of matarial at a time, until it functions correctly.

Two good points. Agreed. It was the SSP that was suggested not recommended for AR10, and I would also look at the amount of the channel in the safety removed for correct function. If not enough, it will rub and cause difficult trigger pull.

Thank you everyone for the speedy response. I will call up GA tomorrow to see what they say.

I also was using a dremel to remove the safety portion slightly until the safety functioned correctly.

I have a feeling that I may need to remove of the safety portion, if I am reading the above correctly, but will call and see what Geissele Automatics has to say.

Got in touch with Armseast who contacted Geissele and they mentioned that I should look at removing the safety and trying the rifle without it.

Sure enough in dry firing the trigger was similar to the disassembled. After removing more material from the safety, the firearm and trigger seem to function correctly and maintaining low trigger weight.
