Hey guys~I keep talking myself out of Tikkas...then I handle one or use one..and I'm back to thinking about them again. lol Most recently, a buddy's CTR. I'm not sure I've shot a rifle I like allot more than a Tikka CTR, and the gun also FITS great, and shoots exceedingly well. The caliber I'm most interested in is a .204 heavy barrel, but am curious to know the following. If you're a Tikka expert, dealer, distributor and have the answers (or some of them)~please chime in! :)

I've poked around Tikka's site, all the questions are coming from a Canadian, looking to buy in Canada. (ie, not import)

1. Tikka Varmint~available in a blued barrel+wood stock? (ok with stainless/synthetic)
2. Tikka Super Varmint in 204~did these ever come to Canada, and are there any around?
3. Is the stock (mag aside) on a CTR the same as a varmint? Specifically, the geometry around the wrist/trigger (CTRs fit great, would love it if they were all the same)
4. Could a CTR (.223) be re-barreled to .204R and the mag still work/function/feed properly?

There is a 90% chance that I'll simply pluck a 204 Varmint off the rack one day, but while in the tire-kicking stage, I'm interested in knowing what's possible.

Thanks!

I have owned a Super Varmint, a Tactical, two Varmint Stainless models, and a Stainless CTR with 24" barrel. They all fit about the same to me. Other than the Super Varmint in 6.5X55 that I owned, I have never seen another Super Varmint in Canada. I have also never seen another CTR in stainless with a 24" barrel. The Stainless Varmint model, and the CTR in black with 20" barrels, are by far the most common models.

1. Varmints all have plastic stocks. Blued or SS. Sako has wood, or pick up a stock from EE
2. Super Varmints hve come to Canada. Prophet River, Prairie Gun Wors etc has had them in stock before.
3. Very close.
4. Bolt face should be ok, not sure about the mag fit and feed.

love my tikka Varmint ss 204... I found a wood laminate GRS stock on EE that currently holds the gun bits. Shoots very well.

204 ruger one heck of a laser beam. The 204 and 223 magazines are interchangeable - love my 204 ruger been working up a great load for the 32 grain v-max.

I don't see why a 204 wouldn't function in a CTR 223 magazine. PM me next week and I can try, just waiting for my CTR to arrive

Tikka hasn't made a wood stock for their varmint series, just plastic stocks

I've been told by a quality gun builder that tikka action do not require blue printing...they come 100% true from the factory.

i got my Varmint Stainless in 6.5 Creedmoor from Brad at Lake Huron Rods & Guns. Incredible customer service.

I picked up a CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 24" stainless barrel about 2 years ago--at the time the only place I could find it was from IRunGuns. I was told Stoeger wasn't bringing many into Canada.

As for the rifle, I absolutely love it.
