My Luger Arrived Today

Sorry if any of you find these posts boring, but I like seeing what everybody else gets so I am posting a follow up to my I Bought a Luger post. Plus I'm as excited as a kid on Christmas morning.

My very first Luger arrived today. It is a BYF marked (Mauser built) P08 built in 1942. It is what some call a black widow model. I stripped it right down and gave it a good clean and lube. Overall it is in very good condition. All numbers match except the rear toggle pin. I wish it was all matching but I did buy this to shoot not just look at, so wasn't a deal breaker for me. The grips are the actual bakelite grips not plastic impostors. I performed the hot pin test and they passed with flying colors. The magazine is not the original either. But again, wasn't a deal breaker. I do hope to get an original magazine with the bakelite base some day.

But all in all I think I got myself a very nice Luger shooter. I cannot wait to get this out to the range

Check out Lugercollector dot com he often has both prohibs and rebarralled guns. He also lists stuff on the EE from time to time.

That's where my 1915 DWM came from. It's been rebarrelled to restricted but that really doesn't bother me. Compared to rebarreled guns with the Pinocchio look the extra 6-8mm on a Luger isn't nearly as noticeable

Thank you. And yes I have ammo, but no registration certificate. Stupid f#@$ing registration certificates......... but that's a whole other rant.

I just think it's ridiculous that even though the pistol has been transferred to me I cannot take it to the range until I have the registration certificate in hand. And of course the registration certificate cannot be faxed or emailed like the transfer or an ATT can be, nor can it be mailed with the original transfer document. It has to be mailed out separately, and at a later date than the transfer document. It's just frustrating.

Well, as far as rants goes that one was rather boring wasn't it? I'll have to work on that. Lol
 
Your transfer notification has your registration certificate # listed on it. Only during the PAL courses are students told that they must have the certificate with them. Having the number allows any interested party to find out who owns the gun. Remember, although the big piece of paper that your registration comes on has your name on it, the actual registration, the legal document, does not.
